TigerRisk Partners LLC, the Stamford, Conn.-based re/insurance broker, announced that Marc Beckers has been named partner and head of EMEA.
Beckers, most recently head of Aon Benfield ReSolutions EMEA, is one of Europe’s foremost experts on non-traditional risk-transfer structures and life reinsurance, said TigerRisk in a statement. In addition, he has considerable European-focused investment banking experience including originating and executing M&A transactions and monetizations.
He will be working from TigerRisk’s London office reporting to Tony Ursano, president, with a dotted line to Hugo Crawley, head of TigerRisk’s London operation.
Beckers has a “track record of providing innovative ideas and solutions to European insurers and reinsurers,” said Ursano, adding that Beckers’ long-standing client relationships will help drive the company’s European business further forward.
“The combination of his actuarial background, his investment banking expertise, his life insurance and life reinsurance background, and his experience of running EMEA analytics at Aon Benfield, makes him an invaluable resource as we continue to build the leading risk, capital and strategic adviser to our industry,” said Ursano.
Beckers began his insurance industry career as an actuary at ING where he specialized in health and disability insurance. From there, he went to Schroder Salomon Smith Barney where he was a director/actuary providing mergers and acquisitions advice to the insurance and asset management industries. Beckers served as an adviser to the CEO of Dexia Insurance before joining Aon Benfield.
He earned a degree in actuarial sciences from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar.
Pending approval from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Beckers will be an employee of both TigerRisk Partners (UK) Ltd. and TigerRisk Capital Markets & Advisory (UK) Ltd.
Beckers speaks Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish. He is an avid outdoorsman, mountaineer, champion orienteer and winner of the Camel Trophy Team Spirit Award.
