Polar, I attended one of Safeco’s road shows years ago when he was the man. I wasn’t impressed and he had nothing good to say about company plans. Didn’t he run for political office after exiting Safeco, get beat and then get back in insurance?
It could be researched online. He will have less influence on XL/Catlin within AXA. So, as part of the merged entity, XL/Catlin will do better. It could be said that he helped XL survive & thrive by selling it. Safeco was bought by LM, right? So, he might be called a good salesman, despite your perception of his lack of presentation skills and charisma. In the end, he’ll have less influence on insurers, good or bad.
Libitterals haven’t visited this non-political story comment page. Hence, no down votes on conservatives posts. They seem to be here to troll anyone opposing their political agendas.
XL’s stock rose almost 30% yesterday, but XL doesn’t show up on the short list of top gainers in the lower right margin of the IJ homepage. Why not?
When you and Agent stick to insurance topics, you make intelligent, rational points that do not warrant down votes. When you discuss politics, not so much.
I remember the days when McGavick was head of Safeco. Wore his welcome out and off he went.
McGavick exited Safeco, Ire-lands at XL, herds Catlin, and Mcgallivanted thru EurInsurer’s HQs to join AXA.

I worked at Safeco Life when McGavick was the CEO. Slick-oil salesman. It’s almost as if he hasn’t changed.
