Aon Benfield Taps Paire & Karhan from Carpenter for Capital Advisory, Terrorism Specialty Units

Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital adviser of Aon plc, announces two new high profile appointments to lead its Capital Advisory and Terrorism Specialty divisions: Eric Paire and Emma Karhan, respectively.

Reporting to Nick Frankland, UK CEO of Aon Benfield, Eric Paire will lead the firm’s newly formed Capital Advisory unit, which aims to bring holistic capital service to clients, including structured and alternative risk solutions, capital provision, business intelligence, financial modeling, and rating agency expertise, in conjunction with the resources of Aon Inpoint, Aon Securities and Aon’s Investment Solutions for Insurers.

Paire joins from reinsurance intermediary Guy Carpenter, where he was head of Strategic Advisory & EMEA Global Partners since 2007, developing and coordinating Guy Carpenter initiatives for enterprise risk management and its large global clients. During his career, he has held several other senior positions at Guy Carpenter, as well as at reinsurers including AXA Re and SCOR.

Meanwhile, Emma Karhan, also joining from Guy Carpenter, will assume the role of Aon Benfield’s head of Terrorism Specialty and Reinsurer Relationships in London. Reporting to Bob Bisset, CEO of Aon Benfield’s Global ReSpecialty division, Karhan will drive growth in the provision of effective terrorism coverage for clients, specifically in the pool and public entity space. In addition, she will be responsible for enhancing the firm’s relationships with the region’s leading reinsurers as part of Aon Benfield Broking Strategies, led globally by Jeremy Goodman.

Karhan has more than 17 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, having been most recently managing director within Guy Carpenter’s EMEA Practice, where she led its international terrorism placements and was a member of its Nordics business management team. She had previously held other positions at Guy Carpenter within its EMEA Property Solutions Group.
