Beazley Names Bergler as Head of Broker Relations for Continental Europe

April 10, 2018

Specialist insurer Beazley has announced the appointment of Andreas Bergler as head of Broker Relations for Continental Europe. At the same time, the company said, Martin Fricke would succeed Bergler as head of treaty in Munich

In a newly created role, Bergler will focus on building out Beazley’s pan-European broker relationship network and distribution strategy. He moved into the role on April 1 and reports to Will Roscoe, head of Broker Relations UK & Europe.

Since joining Beazley in 2008, Bergler has successfully led Beazley’s treaty team in Munich and played a major role in developing Beazley’s presence in Germany, said Beazley in a statement. He began his career at Munich Re before moving to New Re and then Aon Benfield.

Bergler has been succeeded as head of treaty in Munich by Martin Fricke, who reports to Patrick Hartigan, team leader of treaty business.

Fricke started his career at Aon Benfield before moving to Beazley in 2010, where, as treaty underwriter for continental Europe, he has been responsible for building relationships with ceding companies in Germany, Austria and central and east European markets.

“European growth is a strategic priority for us, particularly for our international specialty lines business,” said Roscoe. “Andreas’ appointment will allow us to develop new relationships with brokers and build on existing ones as we continue to expand our offering in the region.”

Beazley has had a treaty team in Munich since 2008. It underwrites European reinsurance business, with a focus on property catastrophe, property risk and casualty clash lines.
