Starr Insurance Cos. announced the appointment of Joost Vink as head of Europe. He will be responsible for the profitable growth of all European operations except the United Kingdom.
Vink joins the company from HDI Global where he was managing director of the Netherlands Branch from November 2014 to September 2018, according to Vink’s LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, he was general manager for AIG Europe in the Netherlands (December 2012 to May 2014), the profile added.
He also held positions at Chartis where he had been general manager for the Netherlands Branch (July 2012 to December 2012), regional reinsurance officer in London (September 2010 to September 2012), and general manager, Germany (September 2008 to October 2010). Vink worked as regional president and managing director for AIG South Africa (2005 to 2008). He also was general manager for Philam Insurance (January 2001-December 2004) and general manager for AIG Europe in the Netherlands (1996-2000).
“We are excited for Joost to join Starr and head our European operations, he brings more than 34 years of insurance and client relationship experience,” stated Jim Herbert, chief executive officer, Starr Underwriting Agents Ltd. “His extensive background and leadership skills will significantly enhance Starr’s growth plans for the region and strengthen relationships with clients and producers.”
Vink will report directly to Herbert who heads all of Starr’s European and United Kingdom operations.
