UK MGA Association Offers Online Training with Chartered Insurance Institute

June 7, 2019

The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) announces the launch of “MGA Assess,” an online training solution developed in partnership with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The learning management system, part of the wider “Assess” suite, will provide a platform for MGAs to develop the knowledge and technical competency of their people, while at the same time demonstrating their expertise and professionalism to brokers and insurers, said London-based MGAA in a statement.

Through e-learning modules, MGA Assess will provide a structured program of learning with regular assessments to ensure that technical and market knowledge is kept fully up to date. The training is Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) compliant and will provide individuals with continuous professional development (CPD), said the MGAA. (MGA Assess will be officially launched on June 11).

A recent survey of the membership of the MGAA revealed that professional development and education is important to MGAs, with a large number of MGA employees either holding or studying towards CII qualifications.

“We’ve worked with the CII to develop this training solution. We believe it’s important to drive consistently high professional standards across the industry. Moreover, the IDD requires it,” said MGAA Chairman Charles Manchester, in a statement. “As the first training solution specifically built for MGAs, we hope practitioners will take full advantage of MGA Assess.”

Steve Jenkins, development director at the CII commented: “We are delighted to be working with the Association in the launch of MGA Assess. MGA’s play a key role in the insurance market and we are confident that this initiative will help support structured learning and CPD for a very important group of professionals.”
