People Moves: AXA XL Promotes Innes to Lead Product & Airports, Aerospace; QBE Hires Besant for New Customer Officer Role; IGI Names Kaur Gill as APAC Financial Lines U/W

AXA XL Promotes Innes as Global Practice Leader – Products & Airports, Aerospace

AXA XL announced it has promoted Andrew Innes to global practice leader – Products & Airports, Aerospace, effective immediately.

Based in London, Innes will be responsible for strategically developing AXA XL’s global portfolio of aerospace manufacturers, service providers and airports, while also driving global governance, underwriting guidelines and pricing standards across the business units. He’ll also join the division’s Global Aerospace leadership team.

Innes has more than 20 years’ experience working across the aviation and aerospace insurance industries, beginning his career with Brit Insurance in 1995. Most recently, he held the position of senior aviation underwriter at AXA XL, having been promoted within the business several times since he joined the company (formerly Catlin) in 2006.

QBE Appoints Besant to New Chief Customer Officer Role

QBE European Operations has appointed Andy Besant as chief customer officer. In this newly created role, Besant will report to Cécile Fresneau, managing director, Insurance.

Besant will be responsible for QBE European Operations’ sales strategy, distribution, client proposition, the management and development of major trading partnerships, major client relationships, as well as other priority customer segments.

He will join from Collinson Group where he is currently managing director for Travel Experiences. He previously has held senior sales and distribution leadership roles at HiFX and American Express.

“Our overall business and customer strategy is at the heart of this role as we continue to deliver value to our customers in a responsible, accountable way to ensure long-term sustainable relationships. Andy will bring further customer experience in terms of his mindset, insight, and delivery,” commented Fresneau, who said he will be joining the team towards the end of this year.

IGI Names QBE’s Kaur Gill as Asia Pacific Financial and Professional Lines Underwriter

Bermuda-based International General Insurance Holdings Ltd. announced the appointment of Manpreet Kaur Gill to the role of Asia Pacific financial and professional lines underwriter of IGI Labuan. Kaur Gill will be based in the company’s Kuala Lumpur office.

Kaur Gill has 24 years’ industry experience in managing and driving a broad range of financial and professional lines and casualty products. Prior to joining IGI, she worked for QBE Malaysia as the head of professional lines, general liability and workers’ compensation. Previously, Kaur Gill was manager of casualty and financial lines for MCIS Zurich Insurance, which she joined from AIG Malaysia where she was vice president and head of casualty and then property.

She will report to Nick Garrity, chief executive officer of IGI Labuan.

“The significant increase in the demand over the last 12 months for the solutions we provide to the financial and professional lines sector means there is a great opportunity to embed our position as a recognized lead market and long-term partner,” said Garrity. “Manpreet’s appointment will enable us to provide specialist capabilities and excellent service led by an established and a well-regarded professional.”
