I am a 65 yo white female, retired. I just received my homeowner’s insurance policy and was DENIED the usual discount that I have enjoyed for quite a few years.
I was informed that due to insurance scoring, I no longer qualified for a discount. Among the reasons listed was “not enough recent retail accounts”. Now why does a 65 yo female need retail accounts? The insurance company also stated they have the right under a national law (without my permission) to access not only financial records but also my personal medical records.

I see insurance scoring as just one more way to discriminate against those who can least afford it, the poor and the retired elderly. I also see access to my personal medical records without my permission as an ultimate invasion of privacy. The bottom line—-$38 more per year for me out of my pocket because I am poor and elderly.
I find it difficult to believe anyone thought this was a “good” idea. Certainly not for the consumer-perhaps for the “hand in the pocket” insurance companies!
