Timm Elected President, COO of Century Surety

Columbus, Ohio-based Century Surety Company (CSC) reported that Christopher J. (Chris) Timm has been elected president and chief operating officer of the company. The announcement was made by Roswell P. Ellis, chairman, president and chief executive officer of ProFinance Holdings Inc. (ProFinance).

“CSC is the principal subsidiary and operating entity of ProFinance. The election of Chris to this position recognizes the tremendous contribution he has made to the company since it was acquired some two and a half years ago,” Ellis said. “Further, his considerable talents and skills will be critical in leading the company in its future growth.”

Chris Timm previously was CSC’s executive vice president. In addition to his new role with CSC, he is vice president of ProFinance and executive vice president of Century Insurance Group (Century). Timm has 24 years of experience in the insurance industry working in a variety of underwriting and sales positions.

Before joining Century, from 1990 through 1998, Timm was president of ECI, a managing underwriting agency specializing in environmental liability coverages. ECI became a national leader in the environmental insurance market, producing loss ratios under 20 percent each year. Timm coordinated the divestiture of ECI in 1998.

Prior to founding ECI, Timm was president of Associated Risk Managers of Ohio (ARM) where he designed, developed and implemented specialty insurance and risk management programs sold exclusively by the 18 independent agencies that owned stock in ARM. He also created a specialty lines wholesale brokerage and managing general agent operation that distributed products through agents outside the ownership group. Prior to joining ARM, Mr. Timm spent six years with Wausau Insurance where he held a number of positions in field underwriting, loss control, training and pricing analysis.
