Maybe if someone hurts himself while skating on public property it\’s his fault? Just a thought.

I would hope that the wilful and wanton negligence defense would be applicable to the skate parks, ball fields, etc.

However, that doesn\’t seem to be the case in Nebraska. Hence, it appears prudent to close the park.

I agree. I would close every skate park, pool and park and/or every other recreational spot. Why invite frivilous litigation. I am not sure who is worse in this case, the ambulance chasing lawyers or the state Supreme Court.

It\’s sad that the youth have to pay the price for the ignorance of adults.

We will not raise a healthy group of kids if we don\’t give them healty outlets for recreation.

Hopefully, someone will come up with a viable solution soon. A day to an adult is like a month to a kid.

Why is the skate park treated differently than the football field or the basketball courts?

What will be the alternative to riding at the skate park? It\’ll be back to the streets or leave town for better ramps.

I know the supreme court made this ruling. And from what i know it is because some lady stepped in a hole and broke her ankle on government property. Her case went to the supreme court and she won. So the state of nebraska says they have to revise there laws for nebraska \”PARKS\”(not just skateparks). Now why is it that only skateparks get shut down? Technically all parks should be shut down. I should not be able to go to a public park and play basketball BUT I CAN. Now if i try to go to my skatepark here in Norfolk Nebraska it is shut down. This makes no sense. We as skateboarders are being PUNISHED, in my opinion, just because we are considered an extreme sport. Now i dont mind that they are revising or making new laws. This is a good thing. But they should be fair to all. SO WHAT I\’M GETTING TO IS THAT EVERY PUBLIC PARK IN NEBRASKA, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF PARK IT IS SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. NOT JUST SKATEPARKS. I could be wrong about all this. But from what i know I am correct.
