These are the same people that would have their hands out begging for FEMA to give them grants when they do flood…………That’s it, let the taxpayers bail them out, take no responsibility for your own actions.

I was at that meeting- we were the only insurance company that was interested enough to get the new information and show up.

The real question is: If Springfield and Greene County are participating in the NFIP, have building standards, floodwater retention, storm drainage buyouts, etc, etc, why are properties that didn’t flood for 50 years now suddenly filling up with a light shower?

See “Flood Coverage Forms in Participating Communities” at http://www.mynewmarkets.com/article_view.php?id=91161.

It won’t tell you which communities participate, but it will provide an explanation.

Sorry- online its hard to catch my tone of sarcasm. My point is that all the paperwork and rules in the world are pointless when the government (city or county) goes ahead and gives building permits to developers regardless of the long-term effects on those downstream.

And as the continuous growth keeps covering ever-more land with paving and roofs and the open spaces become increasingly scarce the flood plain will keep expanding.

Growth, continuous growth. It must be that way so the elites at all societal levels can continue to amass their wealth and power.

No price is too high to pay, no sacrifice by the common citizenry is too great to ensure the few at the top of the socio-economic pyramid continue to amass more wealth and power.
