North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm recently revoked the insurance license of Crystal Gayle Just, a Bismarck insurance agent who officials said confessed to filing a false police report and an insurance claim for jewelry she initially declared stolen.
The revocation bars her from selling, soliciting or negotiating insurance in North Dakota.
According to officials, in August 2008 Just went to the West Fargo Police Department and reported four pieces of jewelry stolen. Around that same time, she filed an insurance claim for one jewelry item. WFPD’s investigation revealed that Just had pawned one piece of jewelry that she claimed stolen.
Faced with mounting evidence, Just withdrew her insurance claim and confessed that she knew where all the jewelry was and that it had not been stolen, according to police, who said Just said she filed the false report and false claim even though she knew it was wrong because she needed money. She was convicted of one count of false information to law enforcement.
