The St. Paul school district is getting $1.4 million from the Travelers Cos., and school officials are hailing the gift as a corporate model.
The money is for college-readiness for students and leadership training for principals.
St. Paul Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen says it’s the first of several similar announcements expected in coming weeks.
In November, Carstarphen said a dozen local businesses and foundations had pledged to make new commitments to support the city’s schools. She said the deal shows a new era of how businesses will work with the district and share accountability.
