Were you all informed that during the time of the Brooke Corp. debacle, the State of Kansas Insurance Commissioner, Ms. Sandy Praeger, had never been eligible for the position she was voted into? Her name should never have been on the ballot, she did not meet criteria for this position. Would a competent State of Kansas Insurance Commissioner have identified the Brooke Corp problem before the bottom fell out?
My family was one of those who were victims of these greedy ppl…I’m quite sure our community will be featured on one of the reality TV shows like “American Greed” in the future…how very sad

I too was a victim of these devious people. In October of 2007 at the annual convention executives boasted about the millions of dollars in profit they made. They were beginning TV ads and even said they were considering approaching Brooke Shields to be in a commercial for the company. At the convention, I met a woman from Texas who told me Brooke Corp. cut her off financially and wouldn’t pay her commissions she was due or pay overhead bills as stipulated in her contract. She was distraught. She had no idea how she would run the agency on NO income. Brooke gave no indication of any type of financial difficulty. In fact they bragged about the corporations prosperity. However, I became very suspicious when I received an email from the corporate office that said the President of the corporation left the company to “pursue other interests”. Little did I know Brooke would come knocking at my door to do the same thing to me a few months later. I was devastated financially and emotionally. I lost all of my clients and to this day do not know who has my book of business. I would approach my business clients to explain, but I feel my credibility with them has been destroyed since they had no idea what was happening either. I wasn’t the only one who went through this within the Metro Area. At least 4 of my reputable colleagues went bankrupt, lost homes etc. These are the agency owners I know about. I’m sure some agency owners didn’t let me know. A few months later a bank started calling me repeatedly asking for the pay off due on my loan. I didn’t even know about a loan with this bank (which is located in another state). I contacted the Attorney General’s office and was told a class action suit was pending. ” All you can do is file a claim on the website & get in line, but remember all of the banks and financial institutions will be paid first. I doubt you will get anything.” All I want is Justice!!! Please do not let these criminals get off with a slap on the hand!!

I wonder how many people know that Robert and Leland Orr went belly up raising hogs before they got into the insurance and banking business.
Did these brothers ever get what they deserved.what they did was disgusting and many of my friends lost everything.
