Missouri, with a population of more than six million people, only had 147 people who received compensation last year because of doctor negligence. That is one payment for every 40,889 people. Thus, there are not many people being compensated for injuries caused by medical negligence in Missouri.
The opposition is led by the Trial Lawyers Association. Apparently, they think this law would prevent them from {cough} helping people.
