Holmes Murphy’s Jacobsen Recognized as Regional Safety Professional of the Year

Josh Jacobsen, senior loss control consultant for Des Moines, Iowa-based Holmes Murphy has received the Region V 2017 Safety Professional of the Year from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

ASSE only recognizes eight recipients of the award each year.

Jacobsen has worked tirelessly to empower and advise up-and-coming safety professionals in ASSE’s student chapter at Iowa State University (ISU). He was able to help the student chapter recover from a period of low attendance and a lack of interest from the student body. Jacobsen took the time to meet with students in the safety program at ISU and helped them grow their chapter by adding 21 new members in the 2016-2017 school year.

“Ensuring the next generation of safety professionals is engaged and interested in growing our field has always been a passion of mine. These students will soon be our colleagues, and their innovative ideas could effectively improve safety practices,” Jacobsen stated in Holmes Murphy’s announcement.

Jacobsen’s commitment to occupational safety and health, his yearn for innovation, and passion for empowering the next generation of safety professionals has led to his recognition as one of eight ASSE Safety Professionals of the Year.
