The office is no longer needed as they opened a much larger servicing office in TX. Company has been consolidating offices for years as many areas overlapped or were redundant. Saving money wouldn’t be considered mismanagement by most business owners.

I love the smell of saliva-moistened shoe leather in the morning.

Sad though it may be when a company purchases another firm unfortunately one of the reasons for the acquisition to make sense is the consolidation of back office functions with associated payroll savings. Having been on the receiving end of this process, it sucks, but normally at the end of the day it works out for the better.

    Agent,
Although I have worked in the past for a Nationwide subsidiary and certainly seen mismanagement, in this particular case it would appear to be the proper management step. It would be nice to be able to go back to the 1950’s and 60’s era of start your career with a company and retire from the same firm that is just not todays reality. Times change and we either adapt or get left to the side of the road, that goes for workers and companies both.

The biggest mismanagement I have seen from companies I represent was Safeco acquiring American States and then moving operations to Kansas and letting many great employees from American States go. Safeco had no clue how to assimilate operations, put people in places where they didn’t belong and as a result, ran off a lot of business that was profitable.
