Nebraska Farm Bureau supported Donald Trump for President, even after he announced he would impose tariffs on trade. Nearly 70% of Nebraska farmers voted for the guy. It is time for the Nebraska farmers to wear their MAGA caps with pride and quit their whining about crop prices.
Trade policies for many years had the US losing every time and we had that giant sucking noise of our money going overseas. Sorry liberals, that practice is going, going, gone.
What? The farmers aren’t whining about crop prices. They grew fields of soybeans, anticipating that they would export them to China as they have in the past, but the Chinese retaliated against the Trump tariffs and imposed tariffs of their own. Brazilian soybeans became much cheaper than American soybeans, so the Chinese bought from Brazil, and American farmers could not sell theirs.
Do you think trade policies are causing that giant sucking noise? I would love to hear how you would remedy the difference in wages/labor costs between the US and Mexico/China/India/Vietnam/Canada/anywhere else. If we pay manufacturing workers $20 per hour, and workers in other countries get paid $20 per day (or less), and if you think some liberal trade policy is responsible for that, then you aren’t thinking straight. Let’s hear your fix, Mr. Know-it-all!
Not to worry. The trade wars are winding down and the US is winning them. All will be well again soon.
