Let’s see – unlimited lifetime PIP benefits and allowing health insurers to bill car insurance companies at a higher rate. Don’t think you need to be bigly smart to figure out why rates are highest in country.

Not just highest. 17% away from being double the national average of $1,365. My fix would be that they limit them with the high limit, say 1 million and start from there with investigations into anyone going higher than that. When you offer unlimited benefits the cost goes higher. Which is why Socialism will never work.

I lived in Michigan when this law passed. The purpose of the unlimited medical coverage was supposed to be similar to workers compensation type of benefits but NONE of the fee controls that workers comp have. Put the same fee controls that you see with workers comp as well as the oversight and possibly some audits on certain caregivers that have a tendency to over-treat (same as workers comp), that alone should bring the loss ratio down which will result in lower premiums.
