Iowa Insurance Agent Charged with Fraud

July 26, 2019

The Iowa Insurance Division reported that insurance agent Christine Wilson, age 43, of Moravia, has been charged with two counts of Fraudulent Submissions (Class D Felony).

The charges against Wilson stem from an investigation by the division’s fraud bureau that began in April 2019. Criminal complaints filed by the fraud bureau allege that Wilson provided false information to an insurance company in an application for an insurance policy for her client. It is also alleged that Wilson later made false statements to the same insurer in order to obtain insurance coverage for the client under the insurance policy.

Wilson was booked into the Monroe County Jail on July 15 and was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Wilson’s insurance license has been suspended for three months, starting on June 21, 2019. She is currently prohibited from conducting the business of insurance and her insurance license will not be active unless the Iowa Insurance Division makes a determination to reinstate the license at the discretion of the commissioner.

The division noted that a criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
