When I was a kid, cops never pulled their guns on anyone, never hit anyone while driving, never shouted during traffic stops but nowadays this is the normal way to “protect and serve”. What happened is few good men want to be police and while there are many who are dedicated, there are way too many instances of circling the wagons and protecting their own. I feel for this guy and he’s right, any other private citizen, no matter how noble his cause, would have been charged and sentenced to time in prison for running someone over with his car. I doubt he will succeed until things are changed.

Stush – I don’t know where you grew up but I grew up in Minneapolis…my friends dad was shot by the police with his wife and 5 kids in the car when he unclicked his seat belt to get his drivers license from his wallet in his back pocket. (it was the 1960s and seatbelts were pretty rarely used). Cops would sit in the restaurant where I worked and not respond to calls. One that I personally witnessed was 2 officers sitting at the counter eating and drinking coffee for over 2 hours. They would shush everyone in the restaurant when they replied to dispatch on their walkie talkie and said that they were in the alley where the woman had been reportedly calling for help…they said the alley was empty. They never left their stools. It was January in MN and they were too wimpy to get off their duffs and help a woman screaming for help.
I do not believe police corruption is a new problem.
We just have better ways of identifying it.
