Flight Insurance Climbs

April 3, 2002

With the start of the summer vacation air travel season barely two months away, flight insurance is making a climb upwards according to a report in the New York Daily News.

Travel policies are being purchased not only to provide insurance in the event of an in-flight catastrophe, but also as a measure of protection for having a vacation put on ice due to a disaster that closes down air travel, results in major delays or leaves passengers stranded.

According to a Wisconsin-based company, travel policies have jumped more than 20 percent prior to numbers released before 9/11. Travelers are also more inclined to purchase accidental, death and dismemberment protection.
