Applied Systems has joined the InVEST scholarship program as a $10,000 partner. InVEST is the only education program strengthening the insurance industry by attracting a large pool of qualified insurance recruits.
Started in 1995, the InVEST scholarship program awards two $5,000 and 10 $1,000 scholarships each year to deserving high school and community college students who are pursuing higher education in pursuit of a degree in insurance or a related business field. Scholarships are presented to students who demonstrate excellence in the InVEST classroom and all other areas of study as well as involvement in extra-curricular activities.
“By targeting students who are pursuing higher education, we hope to help ‘raise the bar’ on qualified applicants embarking on one of the many rewarding careers in the insurance industry,” Jim Kellner, CEO of Applied Systems, remarked. “We are pleased to partner with InVEST, an organization committed to the future of our industry. We anticipate many InVEST graduates might seek to be on the cutting edge of improving technology and efficiency in the insurance industry.”
InVEST enjoys the support of more than 30 insurance carriers, 400 agencies, and 1,500 volunteers. By 2003, InVEST program administrators expect their graduates to account for 17 percent of new employees for independent agencies and 6 percent of total insurance companies’ employees.
