CPCU Society’s Leadership Summit Draws in Over 500 CPCU’s

The CPCU Society’s National Leadership Summit, a combination of four major leadership events for Society members and national volunteer leaders, recently drew more than 500 CPCU’s to Las Vegas, Nevada for four days of leadership development programs.

The Summit featured the National Leadership Institute (NLI) Certificate Program, a two-day leadership event that helps business professionals expand their leadership skills and work toward the NLI Certificate of Completion. Attendees learned effective communication, resilience to change, facilitative leadership, financial insight, and project management. The NLI also included a special Leadership Luncheon featuring speaker Larry Plum, president, the Cincinnati Casualty Company. Plum shared his real-life leadership experience with the group and discussed why he believes it is important for leaders to make a commitment to continuing education.

The Summit concluded with Chapter and Section Leadership Training for the Society’s new and seasoned national volunteer leaders. Chapter leaders were briefed on chapter administration, visibility, technology, and finance capabilities, while section leaders learned about team building, facilitative leadership skills, and technology. Michael Fortino, motivational speaker and CEO of the Fortino Group, enlightened chapter and section leaders with an energetic luncheon presentation on leadership and motivation.

The 2003 National Leadership Summit will take place May 7-10, in Tampa, Florida, at the Hyatt Regency Tampa. The next NLI Certificate Program is scheduled for October 17-18, preceding the CPCU Society’s Annual Meeting and Seminars, October 19-22, 2002, in Orlando, Florida.
