February 14, 2003

Rep. Charles “Chip” Pickering (R- Mississippi) will address members of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA National) during the group’s annual Federal Legislative Summit April 3, 2003 in Washington, D.C.

Pickering is currently serving his fourth term as a member of the United States Congress. He represents the Third District of Mississippi, which encompasses the east-central to the south western portion of the state. He serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee as well as the Agriculture Committee. Pickering will give the keynote address at the annual dinner honoring donors to PIA’s political action committee, PIAPAC.

“Chip Pickering has distinguished himself as a champion of small business and an outspoken opponent of frivolous litigation,” PIAPAC chairman W. N. Oliver of Jackson, Miss., said. “We are pleased he will be providing his political insights to the members of PIA’s political action committee.”

In 2002, Pickering defeated Democratic U.S. Rep. Ronnie Shows in one of the nation’s most closely watched congressional races. Prior to his election to Congress, Pickering worked as a staff member for U.S. Senator Trent Lott, and an appointee in the Bush Administration at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
