The Hartford Adds New Homeowners Coverage to Complement Dimensions Auto Plan

June 1, 2004

The Hartford Financial Service Group Inc. has introduced a companion homeowners insurance program designed to meet the changing coverage needs of families over their lifetime. Like its Dimensions auto sibling, The Hartford’s new Dimensions homeowners program is open to a wider range of insurance risks. Purchased together, the two programs provide a broad range of protection.

As with its auto plan, The Hartford has revamped its homeowners underwriting guidelines to include a more diverse group of insurance risks. The company also is using a ratings plan that tailors pricing more closely to an individual’s risk. For families seeking new options for insurance protection, a wide array of coverage options and a choice of higher deductibles add is available. Customers can save up to 10 percent on their auto premium and an additional 10 percent on their homeowners premium when they buy both insurance plans.

According to The Hartford, the company has seen a 250 percent increase in issued business since introducing its Dimensions auto plan in spring 2003.

Highlights of The Hartford’s new homeowners plan are:

· Broadened eligibility, including homeowners with no prior insurance, all insurance scores and most roofs.

· Competitive pricing for all types of homes, including apartments, rentals, condos, single-family homes, and homes valued up to $750,000.

· New optional higher deductibles: $1000, $2000, $2500, $3000, $4,000 and $5000.

· New optional endorsements, including identity fraud expense; scheduled personal property with agreed value; property and liability coverage for loved ones living in assisted living care facilities; property and liability coverage for students living away from school; and replacement cost of non-building structures, such as patios and walkways.

Agents can use The Hartford’s quote-to-issue technology, which gives real-time auto and homeowners quotes and issues policies in minutes.

The Hartford’s new homeowners plan is expected to be available in most states by the end of 2004.
