Ford should be commended for getting the first 4WD SUV Hybrid on the market in the USA in the Escape bodystyle. Although not the highest crash rating, I hope your article does not deter consumers from considering this breakthrough vehicle. I also would point out that the Toyota Prius also failed to earn the highest crash testing rating when launched in the USA.

I was a little shocked by this report. I have been helping a friend shop for a new vehicle. After taking several for test drives I really liked the Escape because it can perform all the daily tasks he needs to do perfectly and economically. I am a bit unnerved that the salesman at the dealership told me it had a 5 star safety rating overall.
I still think the Escape is a great vehicle. With the Hybrid coming soon I feel the Escape will remain one of the top sellers. After reading the crash tests of a few others I don’t feel the Escape is the worst you can do when searching for a safe vehicle. I as well hope this report doesn’t deter possible buyers.

I like Haggarty best, BUT, in order to qualify for that type of piocly, you have to meet strict requirements like, the car can’t be regularly driven by you, you must have at least one other car in the household for every operator, you must put less than 5,000 miles a year on the car, you must keep it in a locked garage, you must be over 26. And, of course, you must have a valid appraisal to establish the agreed value. DO NOT buy stated value coverage. It’s worse than actual cash value. You want agreed value coverage. Your agent can explain the difference and if they can’t, then you need an agent that knows the difference.
