NAAIA Announces 2004 Conference and Summit

July 25, 2004

The National African-American Insurance Association (NAAIA) has announced that its 2004 National Conference and Empowerment Summit will be held Sept.16-18 at The Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. Hundreds of independent agents, company representatives and industry professionals are expected to attend.

The NAAIA’s annual summit attracts a wide range of insurance and risk management professionals from across the nation who attend career-enhancing seminars on leadership, professional development, and education courses on timely insurance topics. In addition, the program provides ample time for “social connecting” in a high energy but relaxing atmosphere, according to Roosevelt Haywood III, president of Haywood and Fleming Associates in Gary, Ind., NAAIA’s chairman.

The 2004 summit will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions offering possible solutions to the challenges faced by minorities in the industry as well as companies looking to tap into the multicultural marketplace, Haywood said. Power networking, career-building workshops and problem-solving discussions will provide a forum for corporate recruiters and others attending from many of the top U.S. insurance companies, he said. Marsh USA Inc. is the primary sponsor for the conference.

“The NAAIA is creating a powerful support system for African-American insurance professionals,” Haywood said. “Our purpose is to enhance the experience and perpetuate the existence of our people in the industry. This in turns allows us to better serve our communities and provides insurance companies a better way to link to the African-American-buying sector of the emerging marketplace.”
