NSU Chooses Miller to Lead Healthcare Division

National Specialty Underwriters Inc. (NSU) announced the hiring of Leslie Miller as senior vice president in charge of NSU Healthcare, a division of the company that specializes in the wholesale of medical professional liability to retail brokers nationwide.

Miller has 27 years of experience in sales, marketing, and management. In 1986, Miller made the transition from the academic publishing industry to commercial insurance at Cigna Healthcare in Florida, later working for the Health Alliance in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then Marsh Inc. in Cincinnati, before joining NSU.

Miller will be asked to lead the planned expansion of NSU’s medical malpractice insurance operations from a centralized operation to a multi-office national enterprise. The first step has already been taken with the opening in June this year of a Chicago, Illinois office focused on healthcare, where Miller will be located.

Chris Randall, NSU president and CEO, noted, “In the next two years we foresee adding another office in Atlanta, Georgia, more than doubling our medical professional premium writings, and growing our healthcare staff from 14 to 30. Our optimism is based on the success we have had in recent years, by being one of only a handful of insurance wholesalers to specialize in medical malpractice insurance for hospitals, physicians, medical facilities, and long-term care at a time when the medical malpractice insurance industry is in great flux and needs reliable markets like NSU.”
