I am not surprise by this move, given Spitzer’s bid for the governorship of NY looming on the horizon. It is true that AIG has become a powerhouse, but with the ongoign investigation, it makes one wonder…
The article states that AIG has very experienced management in every business unit, and it makes me shudder to think that given the size of AIG, that corruption was only limited to the CEO…expect further disclosure and given the delay in their annual report, more interesting stories to come.

’04 we had 4 NAT CATs, ’05 Spitzer has already created 1.

    Dear Mr. Greenberg,

I am Lexington’s Director of Risk Management Services. I have worked here for 11 years. I just wanted to let you know how much I admire what you have done for this company and AIG as a whole. I recently had the pleasure of meeting you at our 35th anniversary party. It has been an honor to work for you.

Everyone’s time comes sooner or later…we all reach that point that Dr. Lawrence Peter made so famous.

If Spitzer could only impact Ted Kennedy as effectively!

    Monarch,
If you are posting this in reference to “The Peter Pricp.”( ie. we all elev. to our highest degree of incomp.) read the book again. Whatever the man may or, may not have done. He did take the industry from the turn of the century mentallity (1900) to (2000) in a short time. I only hope we can find strong leadership like this in the future. BTY, been a Broker all my life, fought like hell with their underwriters, and often said ” they negotiate better than most brokers ”
IF you think that is the point, that Dr. Peter would make on Greenberg, as I said-read the book again!

Lisa, Mr. Greenberg has left the AIG building, you can stop kissing his ***.

The Greenbergs are corrupt crooks. They should be glad they are not facing jail time, like the others.

They knew, or should have known, exactly what was going on under their respective watch. They should be hit with RICO.

The small players in the game always take the hardest hit. Low or mid management get jail time, CEOs get to retire or resign with no jail time or personal fine.

I am sure the Greenbergs are nice people to meet, initially. However, just because you are nice, does not make you exempt from being a thief!!

TO THE OTHERS—LOOK AT THE FACTS AND STOP BLAMING SPITZER.

I am well aware of the syntax of the book. You, apparently, are not! I used it as a teaching resource at Brown University a few years ago.

Winston – you presume to know the facts?? Tell us what they are then! I also worked there for a period and respected the man and I back Lisa in her comments. He built a successful corporation and their competitors try to mimick them in whatever they do. Good management and he is a great leader. I believe when the facts come out, it will show Spitzer’s personal vendetta and agenda. I can only guess, the Greenberg’s did not just rollover and plead guilt to any charge Spitzer indicates he may try for — in my humble opinion.
Winny–why did wait for the facts instead of screaming foul at first note!
    Lisa, I commend you.

    Jimmy boy, first note!

This matter has been in existence for more that a minute.

WHETHER OR NOT HE IS A RESPECTED, SUCCESSFUL, OR JUST A REALLY SWELL FELLOW IS IRRELEVANT. OK, I GIVE HIM TWO THUMBS UP FOR BEING A NICE GUY GREAT. I would only hope that after competing unfairly in a market on would be successful.

They (Greenberg family) may been leaders in their field but illegal conduct is still illegal conduct. Jimmy boy, although all of the facts hereto are still not out, The FACTS TO CONCLUDE WHETHER OR NOT THE GREENBERGS ARE CROOKED INDIVIDUAL ARE ALREADY OUT AND THE VERDICT IS IN–GUILTY!!!!

I like how you, however, can come to a premature conclusion that Spitzer has a personal vendetta—I am glad to see that you wait for all of the facts to come in before making a decision.

Jimmy boy, why are you commending Lisa for kissing butt? That is not exactly an original concept.

OK, I will be fair, Mr. AIG Greenberg is a respected and great leader, who built a successful company, and one who should be entirely grateful that he has not as yet been brought up on FEDERAL CHARGES. If he is PLEASE LET ME BE ON THE JURY.

Jimmy boy, open your eyes and stop being blinded by Greenberg’s pretty smile that you seem to like.

Lisa, my only comment for you is that you stop kissing the butt of upper management and start your own business so not to have to continue more butt.

    Sincerely yours,

    Winston

In referece to your comparrison AIG’s CEO and, the Peter Principal all I care to say to you is, “if this the what you have been teaching at “Brown”, no wonder I have been so unimpressed by most of the “Ivy League MBA’s” I have hired over the years. Please don’t tell me you “LECTURE” a RM course. I respectfully suggest you consider the following. “Those that can do, those who can’t Teach”
