The Port Of Beaumont and Jefferson County, Texas both have seen tremendous increases in their property premiums after Rita. At least their public officials have the class to recognize they have been getting coverage at bargain basement prices. The rest of the country should not have to subsidize exposures along the coast.
This seems like a simple decision to me. Be thankful that anyone is willing to offer insurance, pay the premium that still appears woefully inadequate for the assumed exposure, and shut up.
The Insurance Journal is an insurance industry publication and do you mean to tell me that they don’t know that the 2nd largest commercial insurer in the USA is based in St. Paul and not Minneapolis?!?
Do they not realize the money St Paul has paid out for the Katrina Claims for their policy? Please explain to the New Orleans Levee Board how insurance works.
I agree with y\’all whatever renewal price St Paul comes up with is still too low.
I suspect Mr. Drawert couldn\’t get it right when it was just The St. Paul. Rumor has it he is picking the Portland Seahawks over the Lancaster Steelers this weekend.
I don\’t know, I lived in the Twin Cities for 20 years before bolting to California. Minneapolis was a much nicer area when I was there. St. Paul was kinda dumpy. Maybe they need to change the name to Minneapolis/Travelers!!
I am still amazed that New Orleans is looking to rebuild. If the levee board does not understand why the premiums have increased what can we expect when business and personal coverage prices increase as well. It is of my opinion that Mother Nature will prevail within the next 100 years and what will the people expect then?

Yeah the folks at Chernobyl don\’t understand why they can\’t get coverage either. Must be a conspiracy! I bet Bush and FEMA are behind this!!
Well said!

That wouldn\’t happen if it were Travelers St. Paul as it should be.!!

After all, our name is not Minneapolis Travelers!
Thanks for listening. I feel better now. :)
Isn\’t diversity wonderful?
