Main Street America Promotes Kuhl, Schultz; Appoints Frazier

The Main Street America Group has promoted Ed Kuhl to executive vice president, chief financial officer and Dick Schultz to assistant vice president, and appointed Tom Frazier to assistant treasurer.

Kuhl joined Main Street America in 1988 as controller. He has served as treasurer of all of Main Street America’s operating companies since 1999 and was elected a vice president in March 2000. Kuhl was appointed chief financial officer in September 2002 and promoted to senior vice president, chief financial officer, in March 2005.

Kuhl, based in Jacksonville, Fla., is responsible for oversight of all of the organization’s financial activities including the accounting, treasury, tax, planning and internal audit functions. He also oversees Main Street America’s Bonds and Investment units.

Before joining Main Street America, Kuhl was vice president and chief financial officer of Sedgwick James of Pennsylvania Inc. He has also been the manager of corporate accounting at the PMA Group in Philadelphia. He began his insurance career as an accountant in the International Division of INA.

Schultz joined Main Street America in 1986 as manager, financial control and reporting. In 2002, Dick was promoted to director, financial reporting and control. Schultz was elected assistant treasurer in March 2003.

Schultz, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for internal and external financial reporting for Main Street America as a whole, as well as its subsidiaries and profit centers. He also assists the company’s chief financial officer in monitoring the corporate systems of internal control and ensuring financial regulatory compliance. Additionally, Schultz manages Main Street America’s tax liabilities and the accounting impacts of managing financial regulation and the activities of regulators.

Schultz has nearly 30 years of accounting experience. Prior to joining Main Street America, he served as manager, general accounting, at Universal Reinsurance Company, Blue Ash, Ohio.

Frazier joined Main Street America in 1999 as senior internal auditor, and was named manager, corporate finance, in 2001. Frazier was promoted to director, corporate finance and investments, in November 2005.

Frazier, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for managing Main Street America’s $1.3 billion investment portfolio. He also directs quantitative portfolio analysis for the purpose of determining appropriate asset allocations, as well as chooses the outside managers to meet portfolio objectives. Additionally, Frazier oversees the performance of outside investment managers, banking and custody relationships.

Frazier has nearly 15 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining Main Street America, Frazier served as a Certified Public Accountant at Robert M. Mucha, CPA, PC, Keene. From 1996-1998, Frazier was a financial analyst at Kingsbury Corporation, Keene. He also served as an audit senior for Ernst & Young LLP, Boston, from 1993-1996.
