The Dems have a very annoying habit of taking the very small % of instances that tend to go not quite the way it is supposed to.
For example, Katrina. FEMA has been responding to hurricane disasters for decades and have performed very well. Now, due to the delays from residents evacuating, the mayor for requesting assistance and the Gov for sitting on her hands immediatly after the hurricane, the relief effort did not perform as it should have.
But, to take that occurrence and imply that FEMA responds this way all the time is a ploy to tug at heartstrings of the those ignorant of the facts and make it look like Bush \”hates blacks and poor people\”.

FEMA and the Feds have some huge problems and their weaknesses were very exposed during Katrina.

But have we citizens done all we can reasonably do to prepare for emergencies and disasters?

Instead of blowing hot air up our butts, maybe Sen. Clinton could educate us on what we can do to help ourselves?

A \”lie\” is a statement made when the one making the statement knows that the information is not true.
The Dems have been looking for evidence that Bush knew the info (Iraq has WMD\’s)was not true, but have not found the smoking gun, the gun or the smoke. We all know if there was the slightest bit of proof that he lied, they would be screaming for impeachment.
Therefore, since there is no evidence, I request that the Dems stop using a flawed, not thought out claim of \”liar\” until such time that there is some proof (which will never happen becasue Bush, Britian, France, Germany etal all believed that Iraq had WMD\’s).
Nice try, but it just does not hold water and makes the Dems look as desperate as they actually are.

\”A small %\”? Katrina was a small %?????? The US made it to the Tsunami on the other side of the world in 72 hrs, yet it took 5 days to get to New Orleans. The entire world watched people dying while the red tape that is now FEMA was sitting around.
Putting FEMA in Homeland Security under a man who saved HORSES was yet another Bush Blunder.
It\’s not that Bush hates the blacks and poor. It\’s that Bush puts his \’loyal followers\’ in positions that they aren\’t qualified for and have no business holding.
Fortunately for the rest of us, his \’loyal followers\’ are getting fewer and father between.
I can\’t believe that people are still ignorant enough to blame people who survive on $9000 a year for not being able to just pick up fly out of a doomed city. Oh, and BTW- I guess it\’s their fault the levees collapsed?
I\’m sorry, but we have no business trying to save the rest of the world when we can\’t take care of our own. THAT\’S my biggest problem. Send billions to Asia for the Tsunami while bodies rot in the street in Louisiana. Yep. Great legacy.

Don\’t forget about Ray \”Chocolate City\” Nagin and his brilliant choice to leave all the buses parked when he could have used those to evacuate the city. Plus, I think you are being a little over dramatic about seeing \”hundreds\” of people dying in the streets on television. What I remember most was the hundreds of looters who made it almost impossible for the rescuers to get in to the people as they shot at the Nat Guard and rescuers. As far as I am concerned, there is more than enough blame to go around to all. Plus, New Orleans needed an enema anyway.

I do give credit where it is due. Your right on that point. It is time for the Dems to stop bashing Bush. It\’s yesterday, old news, even the Republicans are getting in on it now.

Dems need to stop Bush bashing and start offering solutions. Unfortunately, we\’re stuck in a pool of quicksand between the party that got us here and nobody being able to get us out effectively.

So, since you have the answers, where do we get a candidate that has the b***s to stand up, stop taking the corp kickbacks, stop thumping the bible when it\’s in their favor, and actually get us out of this mess?

America needs to get the hell out of the Mid East, we need to take care of the people that are here LEGALLY, and we need to stop taking care of every other country but our own.

So adjusterjoe, compman, & Mike, stick by your Republicans & let\’s see what kind of future you\’ll have here in the U.S. We are told that Medicare is failing, we have a trillion dollar deficit, our own victims of catastrophies wait on help but other countries are getting billions of dollars -how about your Republicans explain that? I agree 100% with Dawn and Mary. Name one thing that Bush did that helped the poor without any kickback for the rich and I will name over 100 things that Bush did that hurted the economy and the poor. As for New Orleans, there is a video that shows Bush in a meeting with his administration. They asks him what do they need to do about the levees because it will not hold up against the storm that was coming to New Orleans. HE said to wait until after the storm. About the looting that was taken place in New Orleans; what would you do if you lost everything and had no one helping you and you have a baby wearing a 3 day old diaper. New Orleans was wrong for the stealing of TV\’s and the shootings, etc. But if I was there and I needed a diaper & food for my baby and Fema was 5 days late. I would also be there getting what I need. It\’s called survival. Everybody would be doing that. We can send billions of dollars overseas and give open invitations to illegal immegrants but we can not help the people in need here. The ones who paid taxes all their life here. We can put an alcoholic on the system but we can\’t put someone who have a disability on the system until after the 3rd denial. We cant help the people who are living under a bridge but we can send aid to underdevelope countries. We cant help the childern who are in abusive homes but we can go adopt childern in other countries. But yet we can tell other countries how to run their government; arent we backwards. Our work is right here with the people you see everyday.

Mary, please work on your grammar. Also, are you talking about the economy that has the lowest unemployment rate in over 20 years? Or the economy where home ownership is up over 40% from 1980? Maybe the economy where the stock market is at record high levels? Well, it that is not it, maybe its the economy where the housing sales just hit a record high last month? Mary, please advise what country you live in? I am curious. Also, if I had a baby with a 3 day old diaper, I guess I would try and steal a tv and beer too! As for the 5 days before FEMA showed up, that just shows that if you repeat a lie long enough, people with actually believe it. The old saying is a dog won\’t mess in its own kennel.

I\’m so sorry my grammar do meet your approval ratings. I\’ll do my best not to exceed your expectations. lol

You misquoted me. They were wrong to steal the tv\’s and beer, sweetie, however, I\’m not going to get on nobody\’s case for stealing the diapers and food b/c FEMA was no where to be found. I personally will do my best to care for my son in the case of a disaster and if that means that I would have to steal food b/c FEMA is FIVE DAYS late then I will. Just like other parent would do who loves their kids. That\’s called survival, baby. If I\’m wrong on how long it took for FEMA to come to New Orleans aid, please let me know so that I can have my facts straight. But so we can be on the same page: how long was it before the government sent money to Asia for the tsunmi, and we sent aid to Florida for the hurricanes, and we to north and south carolina for hurricane damages, and to california for wildfire and mudslides, and dont let me forget about good old Texas. I believe it was less than 72 hours. Do you not see why people was so upset in New Orleans?

I wished I lived where you lived at honey because where I am at unemployment is high and factories are shutting down. The numbers look good on tv because the unemployment office will kick you off the system if you dont find a job within a certain period of time. and the little jobs that are around are minimum wages. Can YOU live on mimimum wages? I can\’t, not with gas prices being like it is. Oops! I forgot you republicans gave the gas companies tax break when they were making the biggest revenue in history.

Here is what is in the News:

For the six consecutive quarter General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM) is reporting a loss. The company says its first quarter earnings loss was $323 million, or $0.57 per share. GM\’s struggling North American division reported a loss of $946 million. The automaker, which lost more than $10 billion last year is in the middle of a major restructuring effort that will mean 30,000 job cuts by 2008. (wow, unemployment rate is pretty low, right?)

Barnes & Noble Takes 1st-Quarter Loss. The loss for the quarter ended May 5 totaled $1.6 million, or 3 cents per share, versus a profit of $10 million, or 14 cents per share a year ago.

Gasoline prices climbed Thursday after another round of outages at U.S. refineries.

    Jobless Claims Rise Slightly.

Circuit City\’s recent profit warning and concerns about competition have pulled the plug on the consumer electronics retailer\’s shares.

Limited Brands Inc. said on Wednesday that its earnings fell 46 percent in the first quarter.

I guess you have to correct my grammar and my spelling this time babe. I usually pay someone to write my letters for me. lol.

President Bush signed a $10.5 billion relief package within four days of the hurricane, and National Guard and troops arriving with relief of food, water, and medicine, as well as to partake in security and rescue operations within 1-2 days of the hurricane. There is still over 1 billion dollars worth of aid available to New Orleans and Louisiana but the local and state elected leaders have failed to apply for this aid at the present time. Mayor Nagin response was that the Feds wanted him to fill out paperwork in order to get the aid and he didn\’t feel he should have to do anything. Well, if he is that lazy, then the people of New Orleans need to use him to prop up there levies. Also, what about all those 2K debit cards that were handed out.? So, those who claimed they needed it for diapers and food went out and bought booze, diamond rings and porn with there new found money. Why should I give a damn about these people if they don\’t give a damn about themselves. As the old saying goes, give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats everyday. The ONLY recourse they have is name calling and critiques of our grammar.

Remember, Bush was the one that stood on the deck of a carrier and announced to the world \”We have succeeded\” in Iraq. If there are still \’followers\’ (as in sheep) they will turn a blind eye to the obvious and concentrate on the positive. Yes, Bush signed the bill to help NO in 4 days. Yes, the National Guard was there with supplies. BUT- big BUT, here- the food spoiled and the help sat around until the President signed the paper. So what good did it do for them to be there if they couldn\’t do anything for 3 days? A bunch of people in uniform standing around waiting for orders is NOT the same thing as being there. But Bush followers will stick to the absolute fact that they were there. HELP, actual help that actually DID something, took 5 days. the city and state officials had NO WAY TO ASK FOR HELP THROUGH \’PROPER CHANNELS\’. With no electric, no building, no phones they were left standing in front of a camera and begging the world to help. So \’oops, sorry, we never received your email\’ doesn\’t cut it, except with the \’followers\’.

Great grandparents would be fuming at everything. We didn\’t attack countries unprovoked 50 years ago. Officials that lied got caught, and nobody cared about their sex lives. Votes actually counted and not who raised the most money or preached from the bible loud enough. And everybody that came to our country was expected to WORK. Not live on welfare. (don\’t forget speaking English wasn\’t an \’option\’ either) But people that worked and stayed loyal to their companies actually got to KEEP their jobs until retirement. DOWNSIZING didn\’t happen. Factories took care of their employees IN AMERICA. Not putting Americans out of work in order to send our money to South America.

And it goes back to \’we feel entitled\’. HELL YES I FEEL ENTITLED. I pay a fortune for health insurance. I am entitled to a test to see if I have cancer. My autistic son is entitled to be treated for the NEUROLOGICAL (not psychological) disorder that he has. ($350 an hour w/out insurance) Men feel that they are entitled to the pill so they can have sex. I also feel entitled to some of the billions that we send to other countries that I PAY IN TAXES.

So if all they can do is preach Bush and critique our grammar, we\’re wasting our breath.

Thank you compman for the voice of reason.

I am from New Orleans, and I can tell you that RAL, Mary R, Way to go!, Dawn, … have no idea what they are talking about as far as Katrina.

The city of New Orleans has been run by Democrats for decades. So the welfare state can be attributed to the Democrats. No ifs, ands or buts here. Try to find the last Republican mayor.

The crime problem, drugs and murder were disgusting. This may be on the way to being cleaned up, many thanks to the federal government. No more slaps on the wrist for murder. Case in point, today\’s news, a man 25 years old murdered 5 people and was put away by the feds for violating his parole, carrying a fire arm. Five murders and on the streets.

The welfare state was unbelievable. Compman\’s correct when he says give a man a fishing pole, because if you give them the fish they do not take care of themselves. And the number of children out of wedlock. Within the past two weeks, a 25 year old with 7 illigitimate children arrested for murder. Do the math on how this grows!

The people that were left behind were wards of the state. Democrat\’s fault! People that worked and had a livlihood left with their families and started immediately rebuilding.

On another topic, will you all stop the moaning and groaning on Bush. This has nothing to do with President Bush, unless you know something I don\’t know. Is he running again? This has to do with new politicians running, so redirect your thoughts on who should be the next President. You\’re only following the media mantra when you do this, which is a diversion from the real issues.

Finally, I am a woman, and I guarantee you I would never vote for Hillbilly Clinton. She\’s has expressed her desire for a socialist state, even since her college years. Her running the show as President, along with a Democratic majority, is probably the end of this country as we know it. Chavez\’s rule is probably very attractive to the Dems.

I also have to say thanks compman for the truth. All one need do is look at the stark difference as to how the hurricane was handled in Mississippi versus in New Orleans. Even the western portions of Lousisiana handled Rita better that New Orleans handled anything. No, New Orleans had its hand out and did not and would not do for themselves. There were some in New orleans that did, but the whiners and complainers were teh ones who sat on their a**es and waited for the gov\’ment to do everything for them.

Nagin has made more comments to be ashamed of than you can imagine. The latest I know of was an insult to Philadelphia. I have it because I sent it to someone I know there:

    Nagin apologizes for Philly remark
    April 23, 2007
    Associated Press
New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin criticized the cleanliness of Philadelphia after a visit to the city last week. On Sunday, he apologized for his remarks.
\”Let me tell you something. You ought to go to Philly and you will appreciate how clean New Orleans is,\” Nagin said Saturday to a crowd of New Orleans residents concerned about the city\’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
\”Just go and walk around Philly a little bit and you will appreciate,\” Nagin said. \” … We still have some work to do but we definitely beat them by a long shot.\”
Nagin struck a different tone when he was in Philadelphia on Thursday, thanking the city for providing shelter to displaced New Orleans residents after the storm.
The mayor and officials of his administration came to Philadelphia to learn about the city\’s efforts to demolish blighted buildings and replace them with new developments. …

    He is SOOO inept.

I\’m out of here. Back to work.

Mr. Bush declared four days after the storm, \”I don\’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees\” that gushed deadly flood waters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility, and Mr. Bush was worried, too.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/01/katrina/main1361404.shtml

Watch the video and try to explain why it still took to long to get federal aid.

Hurricane Katrina struck the New Orleans area early morning August 29, 2005.

    Thursday, September 1
U.S. Senate passes a relief package.

    September 2
Tired and angry people stranded at the convention center in New Orleans welcome a supply convoy carrying food, water and medicine.

President Bush visits Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, and later signs a $10.5 billion disaster relief bill.

    September 3
Officials in New Orleans clear tens of thousands of evacuees from the Louisiana Superdome and Ernest Morial Convention Center (Full story), where they were living under squalid conditions with little food or water.

    September 9
Authorities begin distributing debit cards worth $2,000 at the Houston Astrodome, a process that is beset by confusion and will be phased out after a few days.

Please do not judge a whole community based on the actions of a few people. Not everybody bought beer and porn with their debit card. Alot of people lost everything they had. They lost their homes, jobs, and some even lost their family members. It\’s not easy being poor and having to start all over again, especially when you have childern. But with every disaster there are those who commit fraud and waste government aid. However, we shouldn\’t punish the majority of people who are honest and who are struggling and needing help.

Mary….You are so right, too many people are ready to categorize the entire community based on what a few do. Most of the people are honest in any community. A lot of these people do not even have transportation, so how do they leave? Lets not bring up the buses, who would drive them? If the Corps would have built the levees, properly the city would not have flooded. There is plenty of blame to go around, but what good does that do. Lets stop playing the blame game and use our energy to do something constructive.

You obviously have no explaination as to why all of the problems were in metropolitan New Orleans only. Slidell, Burris, Grand Isle, South Plaquemines Parish, Cut Off, Houma, Hammond, Lake Charles (Rita), Lafayette(Rita) and Missisippi did not experience anything like those in New Orleans. Truth is those in New Orleans did nothing to help themselves and waited on someone to help them. Like they are still doing today. They even shot at those trying to deliver supplies. Now quit trying to justify the un-justifiable!

Like I had said earlier you cannot judge a community based on the action of a few. Everybody complains sometime honey and some more than others. Nobody is perfect.

Please tell me what was the people of New Orleans was suppose to do when majority of the city was under water. There was little food and water there at the superdome. The superdome suffered damages its on self b/c of the storm. The weather was over a 100 degrees and people was suffering heat strokes. The elderly people in nursing homes was not taken to safety. Parents and childern was separated. Diabetics are without their medications and going into diabetic shock. Cops are shooting & beating innocent people. There is alot of blame for what happened to New Orleans and we can spend all day going back and forth about it. the bottom line is what can we do to make sure this dosent happen again.

Mary: You avoid the facts well. You still refuse to address why the citizens of New Orleans should not be held accountable. You speak only in generalities and refuse to answer why these problems did not occur anywhere but New Orleans. Apologists usually don\’t have facts though. You fit the bill to a tee! How can somone in such dire need SHOOT AT THE RELIEF WORKERS BRINGING SUPPLIES!!!!! As a civilian, would you go back to try to help someone who was shooting at you? If there were people in need, they should have taken matters into their own hands and stopped the shooting at workers. But they did not; just like they destroyed the only place they had to live, the convention center and superdome. Hold those who are accountable to blame, not those who tried to help. Stop making apologies for those who should be held accountable.

And it wasn\’t just people coming in that were being hurt and shot at. Anyone who knows someone in one of the surrounding police departments or NOPD would talk about the atrocities being committed on the women in the city. I guess rape and murder makes sense to some people when they are in need of water and food? I can tell you some stories.

They can spit their bile out against the President all they want, but the facts remain. And again, they still don\’t appear to get how they are being strung by the media. If you don\’t pay attention to the incoming politicians instead of the outgoing, you aren\’t an educated voter. And, this is what they hope for.

I guess you are saying that 100% of the people there in New Orleans was looting, and shooting, and raping, and destorying buildings. I guess that\’s why no one else in the Mississippi and Alabama area did the same. All the problem was in New Orleans, right. Everybody in New Orleans should just starve and live on the streets b/c they are not thankful for the little help they received days later. I guess we can be big brother to all the other countries and watch them burn our flag. We can go and try to help Iraq and they can shoot at us. We can send food to Africa but the millitary refuses to give it to the people in need there. Maybe thats too far from home. We can go to Florida the day after the storms. We can be in Texas before the storms hit. We can be there for California for its mudslides and wildfires. Kanas for their tornados. But it takes FOUR days for a relief packet to be signed by the President. Almost TEN days for the 2000 dollar debit cards. With the magnatude of destruction there were not even enough Nation Guards to help evaculate the people out of the city. But I keep forgetting EVERYBODY in New Orleans must be the BAD GUYS there. At least that\’s what you keep telling me. I\’ve heard at lot of stories from New Orleans some of which made me upset that my own race would do such. But most of the stories I\’ve heard of from New Orleans made me proud of my own race. Not everybody\’s community is perfect but there is always more good in the community than bad.

Oh yeah I dont vote because I learned a long time ago that my vote do not count against the electorial vote.

My original statement had nothing to do with anything but the administration dragging it\’s heels in the face of an emergency, and the fact that people with no experience were \’given\’ jobs they had no business having because they were friends of Bush. Since he can\’t respond with facts, he changed what I said and got rude about it.

Your desire is to give a free pass to those repsonsible. You have no desire to hold accountable those who are accountable. YOU REFUSE TO ADDRESS WHY OTHER AREAS HIT AS HARD OR HARDER HAD NONE OF THE PROBLEMS NEW ORLEANS DID. There is a correlation you REFUSE to accept. New Orleans is its own biggest problem.

Other areas hit as hard? What other area had the levees collapse and dump over 20 feet of water in their homes?

I didn\’t see people standing on rooftops with water around their ankles anywhere but NO.

I didn\’t see bodies floating by houses or stuck in trees in Miss or Al.

The houses that collapsed on the coast still left the people a way out.

And, just to add a point, anywhere that has a natural disaster has their share of looters and such. That\’s why there are curfews in cities with no electric. We had one down here for two months following Wilma for the same reasons. IF there were no police, no power, no water, no food, how fast would your city become a warzone? I\’m not defending them, I\’m simply stating that it could have been anywhere – but it\’s easier to call them names then say they deserved it.

NO just made worldwide headlines because it was already such a debacle.

But you cannot pass the blame to the childern nor can you pass the blame to the elderly who had no way out. Yes, there were women who was raped but can you push the blame on them also. Yes, there were some people shooting at relief workers but perhaps you didnt follow the news as closely as you thought you was following it b/c the citizens did get the people who was doing the shooting and the raping, thats how the place got trashed. I can find the article for you if you dont believe me.

I hear what you are saying about adjusterjoe changing what you have said and then being rude. That\’s the game he plays. He won\’t ever change. You either agree with him or you\’re stupid or an apologist. By his logic though, he is an apologist as well. You had better not point that out to him or he will call you stupid. Anyway, I think he has some valid points, as do you and Mary R. as well.

OK, so on one hand we have honest, hardworking people who live paycheck to paycheck but are self-sufficient. There are those who work hard but need a little extra help. Then there are those who do nothing and want everything handed to them. Unfortunately, during the mass chaos and horror, it wasn\’t possible to distinguish between the \”good\” and the \”bad\” people. That\’s unfortunate because I don\’t mind helping those who need and deserve it. However, I do have a BIG problem helping those who don\’t even TRY to help themselves.

It seems as if a lot of people on this thread want to figure out what to do NEXT time… so does anyone have any good ideas?

At the risk of being called a communist again, my ideas involve changing the current system.

Working people get tax credit for child care. That doesn\’t help someone making minimum wage to pay the weekly care for child care. Instead of paying mothers to sit home with their children, give them vouchers to pay for child care while they work. And cut off their free money if they refuse. Then instead of providing Medicaid free if you\’re not working, make the premiums affordable if you\’re making minimum wage.

I\’ve been in the system- my husband\’s company was sold and my boss was killed in a plane crash in a four month period. We had one child and basically we were in a position to have to make about $13 an hour with benefits in order to make it \’worth while\’ to get jobs. And the medical benefits actually caused us to lose money because Medicaid paid for everything while we all know health insurance through employers pay for as little as possible. If we were to stay on Medicaid until our health insurance kicked in, the premium was more then we made put together. And with the rising cost of everything, it\’s almost worthwhile to consider going back on welfare now- we\’d make about the same and our kids would have better medical care.

I\’m against helping people that don\’t want to help themselves, but we have to make it at least survivable for someone to take a minimum wage job instead of welfare. It\’s sad when people can\’t afford to get a job.

After Katrina, it was shown that a lot of the people in the 9th Ward actually had jobs- but at $5 an hour they weren\’t surviving before the storm. If they had been in a better situation before the storm, they wouldn\’t have been so completely helpless after.

There\’s my $.02. Take it for what it\’s worth.

But what about the contractors that were given licenses to loot and to rape! Blue Roof contracts that were lucrative enough to replace the roof! I could go on and on! Those are the real looters and rapers!

A tenant of mine on HUD, could not afford to get a job because whenever she did, they would reduce or cut her assistance, and with gas prices it didn\’t pay for her to go out and work at min wages. No incentives!
In many cases it is better to be on welfare.

I also dont believe in helping people who do not help themselves.

The changes I believe that the United States can make is to help those who has a legitimate disability case get approved of at a much faster pace.

-should take better care of the childern who are have in the system.

-should rewrite the Medicare Part D plans so that it would be a better benefit to senior citizens.

-need to raise the minimum wages here in the United States.

-need do something to discourage companies from closing shops here in the US and moving to India and Mexico.

-need to bring english back to the United States and stop catering to people who wants to live here but do not want to learn our language.

-need a better health system where everyone can get quality healthcare and dont have to go to the bankrupcy court afterwards.

-need to teach our childern in schools and at homes about how to manage their money so that they wont have to struggle to hard when they get out on their own.

I\’m not a communist or a socialist but some of the things that Europe & Asia is doing is very beneficial to their citizens and it wouldn\’t hurt for us to take a look at it and use it as a model for what to do here.

\”Dawn, ANE, and MARY now all rival Jewel as people who do not comprehend the written word. As you say, they read completely different things than were actually written.\”

Seriously Dawn, ANE and Mary- He says the SAME thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER. He twists my words, your words, the words of anyone who does not agree with him. Then he gets all giddy inside when someone agrees with him that his words have been twisted (ie: Mike). He\’s an idiot, plain and simple. You will not win an argument with him because he is always right (even when he is wrong). I have perfectly good reading comprehension and if I do not understand someone\’s point (if they have not indicated they are being sarcastic, etc) I ask them to clarify. I have never once twisted his words- but I did disagree with him. So, like the subject of this post says \”I\’m not surprised… that joe just made that completely asinine post.\”

    AdjusterJoe & Mike:

My grandmother wasnt able to finish high school b/c she had to stay home and care for her younger siblings. Typical story she got married had a baby, and got a divorce. She had to go on the system and get welfare and food stamps to care for my mom. She was not on the system for long when she got a job as a housekeeper, cleaning rich folks homes getting paid about $50/week. As soon as she inform the state that she was working they cut off her benefits and said they couldnt help her anymore. Her ex was abusive and kept stalking them which was why they had to move every so often. But somehow my grandma was able to raise my mom making only 50/week. After my grandmother got older and sick, medicare and medicaid paid to have someone to stay with her daily and her doctor and prescription medicenes. My mom had to get on the system for a short while because she had lost her job due to the company downsizing. My sister can not work and needs someone to stay with her all the time b/c she goes into seizures almost daily. Her disability was denied. Even I had to go on the system briefly when I was pregnant with my son. But me and my family has always managed to rise out of the system and take care of our own selves. Without the system, we wouldn\’t have been able to get back on our feet.

Yes there are those who abuse the system but there are alot of people like Dawn and myself who used the help to get back on our feet.

As stupid as Joe is, he did ask you all questions as well. No one answered them. (I don\’t have the answers or I would help but he says he doesn\’t read my posts anyway- it\’s because I make him feel inadequate since I know how to present facts and argue logically… anyhow…). You both have points. I can understand how you would be annoyed at joe\’s comments though. He isn\’t very savvy. He blames others for things that he himself does on a regular basis. He is the quintessential pot… the one that is always calling the kettle black. I will say that even if you HAD answered his questions, he would still ignore most of yours. He\’s quite a character. I\’m sure his mom is so proud.

It tells me he doesn\’t read a dam* thing you type. Again, it doesn\’t surprise me. He just reads one line and makes up the rest of your post. Hence, the word twisting- which he says you guys did to him. He should talk… but he is an ignorant buffoon- so I am sorry about that one…

Don\’t worry ANE- you will meet his rude posts again on another thread when you disagree with him. No matter what you are discussing with him, unless you take HIS side (which is the RIGHT side don\’t you know?) you will always be a stupid, ignorant person who twists his words and has no knowledge to understand even the simplest concept.

I tried to answer a post of AdjusterJoe, but he ignored it………
\”why it is that the people of Mississippi, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Burris, Slidell, Cut Off, Grand Isle, etc survived better, with less problems and in Mississippi with worse damage\”…….All of these areas are still having problems, the media just doesn\’t dwell on it. Lots of looting in Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Gulfport, but did not make news. I am not minimizing the damage in Mississippi, but the damage in LA compared to Ms was approximately 4 – 1. The damage is so much larger, maybe not worse in severity, but so many more people involved.
I don\’t believe in free hand outs, but the majority of these people are not looking for free hand outs, but they do need help to get back on their feet. This was a natural disaster magnified by a man made disaster. I personally know so many people that have lost everything, including their family members, and I will not turn my back on them.

I do recall now that you posted about the lack of media coverage there. I can\’t say either way, but I can definitely see how they would play up NO and not even mention other areas. But, haven\’t you seen enough posts from joe to know that he won\’t consider that a fact because it WASN\’T on the news? Therefore, you still can\’t win with him. If it\’s not on the news, it\’s not true. The news ALWAYS tells the story EXACTLY the way it happened. No news stories in other areas means they did not loot. Ridiculous way of looking at your comment, isn\’t it? I get your point and think it was well put. adjusterjerk will just call you stupid. Don\’t worry though, Mary, Dawn and I get what you are saying. :)

He actually argued with himself at one point. He stated that the Fed Gov\’t should be responsible for bridges, roads, etc. Shouldn\’t that include levees? But he stated that the people of NO should have maintained the levees. Which way should it be?
If he can\’t decide, I can\’t agree or argue on that point.

I did answer him. The other states weren\’t under 20 feet of water for days. They had curfews. The National Guard was working the local police depts to stop looters and such. Some of the locals officials still had houses and places to stay, which in NO that wasn\’t the case.

And I did agree that the Dems were slamming and not providing solutions, but since I agreed with him and didn\’t give him a reason to be nasty, I was still an idiot.

When someone calls you and idiot when you agree with them, it tells you a LOT about that person. ;-)

Gotta admit, he does liven up a boring afternoon.

I think we all agree that a lot of improvements need to be made, but why the name calling,\”trailer park trash\”, \”Idoit\”, \”ignorant\”. This will not help the situation. It only angers people.

Yes he does liven up a boring afternoon. After a while though, his stupidity is just beyond annoying.

\”He actually argued with himself at one point.\” Too funny- and true! Of course, he will argue a levee isn\’t the same as a road, bridge, etc. and call you an idiot. Notice how you responded to his questions (I didn\’t read all your responses closely, but I didn\’t argue and insult you either ;) and he STILL hasn\’t answered YOUR ?\’s. It\’s only okay when he does it… this way he NEVER loses an argument.

Someone else called him adjusterjerk. I think the name is fitting, don\’t you? :)

While I agree somewhat with that… sometimes it\’s just frustrating to come across these ignorant (sorry!) people. Besides, if you think about it, none of us made him look bad, he did that all by himself! And I still get to look good. Well, Dawn is out and I still have 45 more minutes. :(

The triumvirate of ignorance continues to display their hatred and lack of knowledge. ANE, Dawn, and Jewel show they have no knowledge and attack the messenger (a common tactic by those without intelligence) of truth when they cannot refute what is said. It is sad that they are so dumb and actually proud of their ignorance and continue to display it.

talk about obsessed and talking just to hear themselves talk; the triumvirate of ignorance has 22 posts atacking adjusterjoe to my 1 since late Friday. Now, what is the real truth? Who posts just to see their own words? You must remember the old saying, \”If you repeat it enough, it will become fact!\” is in fact a lie. So please refrain from continuing your diatribes as you continue to show your ignorance with no help from me or anyone else.
