63 months for swallowing glass, but only 18 months for starving elderly people to death for money?

Blame such decision on past ACLU actions. If it does not fit, blame them anyway. A communist organization that hates America.

    This is true you know.

It would be if there wasn’t a writers strike!

Mr Robert D. Wachter should be shown the same disregard for care and service that he provided his residents – along with the sentence – Let him rot for a while – maybe he’ll have time to think about his actions (Anyone know if he is banned from operating another home or even coming in contact with dependents?)

    Earlier story on the glass-eater:
    http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/east/2007/10/08/84102.htm

The heavier sentence was probably mostly due to the sheer scale of the fraud involved.

That’s my point. More money = more jail time. SHOULD be the fact that people died that determines more jail time.

Nursing Home guy would have received more time if he had tried to get his customers to eat glass, like the gypsy guy. Since he didn’t force glass (or food) upon them (have you heard about the nursing home that serves good food…didn’t think so) he gets less time.

That way he can pay his fine and reapply to handle some more homes here in Missouri.

    Patriot,

ACLU? Communist? Obsess much? The ACLU is dedicated to upholding the United States Constitution. Doesn’t sound very commie to me. Try thinking instead of listening to Rush L, Michael “Savage” Weiner, and Dr. Laura.

No prayer in school, no religious mention on any public property but NOW, the
ADF has stomped this Communist organization so many times in court and continues.. So read up on the real world and stop foaming at the mouth like all libs do without facts!!

Patriot, I feel have to step in clarify a few things. The first is that liberals and conservatives both fly off the handle without facts to support what they say. Second, support of the ACLU does not infer any political leaning. The ACLU is dedicated to upholding the United States Constitution; a very noble calling and one that is not easy but often called upon.

I don’t know why political extremists (I seem to notice more conservative extremists on this board, but that may just be the articles I’m reading) resort to name-calling and insult-slinging, but it is unnecessary. If you can’t calmly make a rational argument with facts then you shouldn’t make the argument at all. Passion is okay, but you can have passion in a calm argument. Let your convictions show through strength of argument, not strength of insult.

Lastly, Communism has nothing to do with religion. Communism is a system of economics that ostensibly places control of the sources of wealth into the hands of the producers of that wealth and equally distributes the gains therefrom. The fact that such a system has not worked within human memory shows more about humanity than it does about the system. It is coincidental that the most famous Communist leaders have been atheists; atheism is not a requirement of Communism. Okay, so not so coincidental since most Communists follow at least some of the teachings of Karl Marx and he was an atheist. But it’s still not a requirement. You can’t tell me that Cuba has no religion, and it’s a Communist country. As a parting shot – it’s not like America is totally free of socialism either. Any industry that is regulated by the government has a hint of socialism. Welfare is socialist. Social security is a socialist idea. Medicare and Medicaid are based on socialist principles.

Your fear of ideas other than your own, your fear of the ACLU, just shows that the terrorists have won.

(parting shot was a satire of the reasoning for so many encroachments on my liberties)

    Please forgive any typos.

here’s the problem in today’s society: NO responsibility for their own actions. they would rather cheat the system or get money. the hall of shame should have included our elected/appointed officials that did not abide by the rules and take advantage of the system to get their but in turn, it was turned against them.

    1) the sheriff who’s fraud cost him only 6 months at home (should have been in jail).

    2) the firefighter who burned his wife’s car.

    3) the judge who tried to go to the cleaners when he got his pants lost.

there are more examples. truthfull, the society is looking for what i call free money. either fraudelant or claims against companies who have money to supposedly give away. we allow them to boggle up the court system with frivilous lawsuits. we as a society allow them, the individual not to take responsibility when they do go to court. we truly think that we have money tree in our backyard. just like the federal government when it keeps spending money by giving it to foreign government and then forgive the debt. fact is we elected officials and in many cases, re-elected them back. if we want change we have to make the first step and make it ourselves. otherwise, it will just keep going downhill. remember, that this country is not just influenced by the president but also by those in congress. they have to make a bill and pass it. this also includes your local government as well.

You see; what they don’t say in this article is what would clarify all your arguments.

The faking teacher, the glass-munching gypsy, and even the bum-killing agent were Communist Democrats with Socialist tendancies and card carrying members of the ACLU.

Another little known fact; they all lobbied for Hillary and Mitt Romney to join forces and run on the same ticket.

I think they all may have been Canadian too. If they weren’t, they definitely wanted to be.

So you see; you’re all passionately incorrect in your own way.

thanks lastbat, I really enjoyed your post, all of it. You have demonstrated the kind of critical thinking that is so uncommon today. And one single comment says it all: ” Let your convictions show through strength of argument, not strength of insult.” I suspect that it is the nature of posting by nom de plume that encourages the name calling and mud slinging; this is what divides America, not political debate.

Thanks for those comments agent; I agree that thinking should be substituted for the poor commentary the “Patriot” attempted…revealed only the bigotry which the ACLU has to fight. Not all their causes are as noble as others but I would rather have the ACLU than not. Talk radio is always one-way, so you’d expect “opinion” to be slanted. Critical thinking is not one of the skill sets that people can get in school….
