I was under the impression RLI already cut out the middleman. As a transportation underwriter who has worked for two well respected wholesale/MGAs outfits it has been my experience the only party holding up the quote process is the carrier (too much on their plate) or the applicant (not giving up all the information needed to quote). The Middleman is often as knowledgable as the company underwriter. Trucking has always been a difficult class to write profitably – for their sake I hope all their new appointees specialize in trucking. The Middleman can be an asset – especially writing this class of business.

The retail agent wants cheaper premiums, more commission and less underwriting.

    Good Luck
