So, the parents are suing because…. bisphenol-A sparked Congressional hearings? I’m failing to see what the grounds for this suit ‘seeking class action status’ is. I’m glad research has been done and the bottles are being pulled & discontinued as a *precautionary measure*, but if there’s no actual harm done, how can there be a suit?

Its the answer for everything – The article lists

“…[“some concern”] about BPA from experiments on rats that linked the chemical to changes in behavior and the brain, early puberty and possibly precancerous changes in the prostate and breast. While such animal studies [only provide “limited evidence” of risk,] the draft report said a [possible effect] on humans “cannot be dismissed.”…

So all you men out there with a prostrate problem, men and women with breast cancer, ADD ADHD Bi Polar Disorder, Autism learning diabilities, while we’re at it, lets put the criminals, deviates, sex offenders (since we can’t be sure their actions weren’t some manifestation of the effects of this chemical on their brain) and anyone else on the list and blame it on the baby bottles that our parents used while we were growing up

From the sounds of it, we can all jump on the band wagon and put the entire world on notice that we’re going to sue the pants off of everyone for everything and put them out of business

Okay.. the stuff was acceptable and approved for use until they developed the technology to test it to the enth degree for potential problems – So make it illegal to use after a certain date – move on – and if someone puts the crap in a product now that they know it is a banned substance – then sue them.

I’d hate to be a lab rat – fed 10,000,000 times the does that a normal human being is exposed to a substance and not be expected to develop “problems” –

Asbestos was the “wonder product” of the age – the magic mineral that could be used for so many things – until someone figured out there were health risks – Same with lead – Look where that’s taken us…

Whats the saying &$@#*( happens… Who knew? It’s called life – you go thru it, things happen, you get over it, you move on…

Good grief – when is this going to end?

I am just as confused Matt, the way I see it is that once there is x amount of suits to be filed then the class actions will continue in large numbers. I too agree that it is a good thing to see that people are being proactive about the situation and removing the tainted products from the shelves. There is no harm done now… but once people get educated on “what could have happened” then they will sue for that kind of distress… just something else for bored people to do… I too am confused on that issue…

I’m wondering why it would take retailers until next year to take it off the shelves. I think they mean selling them off the shelves.

This may also explain why my 2 year old is shaving.

This is just another gravy train for the lawyers to jump on.

I think adults who were bottle fed should sue their mothers for not breast-feeding them, thereby exposing them to something that in the future might cause them harm.

I’m going to sue my wife for not breast feeding me because that plastic jug probably isn’t good either.

Boy, what a cynical group! However, I don’t agree with the lawsuit either.

Were these four families harmed or are they suing simply because at some point in the future their kids might fail a math test and then they can blame it on the baby bottle?

here’s the problem: bottles were tainted (supposedly) with this chemical…now how many kids have been drinking from the bottle type? how many of them have problems? do we concede that every problem is always someone’s fault? we have been doing things for years and accepting them. now that we find out that it’s bad, we change our tune! does that mean that it affected our decisions because i parents may have used that product on us?! do you see them suing? NO!! so get over it and move along. now if they don’t correct it now, then i can see them suing for continued use. sorry folks, i think we need to stop being so happy lawsuit that the money is not going to wind up in your pocket but in the lawyers pocket. think about it?! when a class action lawsuit comes into play, who gets the majority share!!!!

folks get over it and move along. for those that want to sue — well, i hope that you have plenty of money and time, because the money you spent on a lawyer just went to his pocket for good in many ways, not yours!

The lawyers are the only ones who make money on these suits! If no one would sue, these lawyers would be out of business!
