Swett & Crawford Launches New Truckers Accident Program

Risk Reducers LLC, a division of Swett & Crawford, launched a new occupational accident transportation program to address the problem of job-related injuries suffered by independent truck drivers who are not covered by workers’ compensation.

Known as the Truckers Accident Program (T.A.P.), the coverage is available through Swett & Crawford’s carrier partner, AIG.

Coverage is for on-the-job injuries for owners/operators or contract drivers who are leased to motor carriers and trucking firms. This modular coverage includes a range of benefits, including lump sum death benefits, survivors’ benefits, medical coverage, and income benefits up to a maximum of $500 per week depending on the plan chosen. The product also provides accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Contingent liability may also be written for a group of 10 or more owners/operators leased to a motor carrier.

“This program is intended to fill the gap for independent truckers as well as those who are leased to trucking firms and to make such coverage affordable,” explained Peter Dumas, Swett and Crawford’s Transportation Practice Group Leader. “This is another example of our efforts to provide a comprehensive array of coverages for the transportation industry.”

Risk Reducers LLC, located in Mabelvale, Ark., is a full-service broker of monoline workers’ compensation and related property and casualty products. The firm has been in business since 1991 and became a division of Swett & Crawford in December 2007.
