After 35 years in an exclusive program relationship, Managed Care Services (MCS) is moving its program and underwriting relationship to Darwin Professional Underwriters, a member company of Allied World Assurance Company Holdings.
MCS, a division of Swett & Crawford Group, said the partnership would become effective effective Feb. 15, 2009.
MCS will continue to service its current book of business (approximately $18 million in gross premiums written for 2008) and will now be the exclusive writer of Darwin’s 365Complete managed care product, the companies said.
As a result of this partnership, eligibility for the 365Complete product covering managed care organizations will be expanded to include organizations with up to $50 million in revenues, up from $25 million.
The 365Complete product integrates multiple professional liability coverages into one insurance product.
MCS accepts submissions from both wholesale and retail facilities and will have use of Darwin’s Managed Care Errors and Omissions (E&O) and Health Care Directors and Officers (D&O) products to support its current book of business as well as for most types of managed care organizations, subject to clearance with Darwin.
“This strategic partnership will help us improve our existing broker relationships by offering a broader range of classes, coverages and competitive commissions,” said Margaret Zechlin, executive vice president, National Program Development, Swett & Crawford Group.
