We are sending $900 million of taxpayer money to help rebuild Gaza and yet we cannot get our elected officials to take care of their own AMERICAN CITIZENS! Flood insurance is an essential part of a property policy for many people in the United States of America. In addition, mortgage companies require a flood policy to be in effect should the home be in a designated flood zone.
Will members of Congress please pass the darn thing and start worrying about taking care of Americans FIRST!

Apparently the powers that be no longer work FOR the American people … it’s time we started recalling some of these clowns if for no other reason but to send a message – we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to put up with it anymore !!!!!!

I really wonder, can we “recall” the last election results. We elected a “new” administration with “new” directions…however there seems to be an awfull amount of “pork”.
The more you hear or read, people are very upset, yet things in Washington continue to be the ” same old thing, just a different day”!

TMD this is “Change” that was promised. Say one thing on the campaign trail and do another and blame the Bush Administration for the ills. “Change” from a somewhat Capitalistic society to a Socialist society, with government running and dictating our every day lives so we will have no “Hope”. Remember – “Change” and “Hope” – There will be no HOPE because all we will have left is CHANGE in our pockets, when President Barak Hussein Obama and his Administration gets done with destroying the very fabric of our Republic. We will be known as EuroAmerica.
And my father was worried about us all speaking German when he fought in World War II???

    Hello all-

I’m confused, how did this National Flood Insurance Program pop up in the 1st place? I was caught off guard when I heard for the first time (to me at least) the plan was on hold at midnight. As person lines agent, we write some flood insurance in Washington state direct with NFIP. Wonder why I don’t recall hearing about this dire issue from them directly. I heard it for first time right here in the Insurance Journal. Is it just me? And what if the “worst happens” and the plan is not renewed?

This is the first I have heard of it as well…This is really huge if we can not handle flood insurance. Were we going to be told after we could no longer write it?

Gov’t waiting to the 11th hour to do anything is frustrating. You may think it’s crying but it’s sheer frustration.
The current system for flood administration by NFS is working just fine. This issue should not have been delayed and threats put out there of not being able to write new business and renewals not renewed.
It’s the same tired comparisons; our government can send $900 million to rebuild Gaza, $180+ billion to bail out AIG and yet delay funding a market that could cause a whole set of other problems (just in mortgage loan issues alone).
We have inept leadership in both the U.S. House and Senate, and power driven where the so-called little people no longer matter to those elites in Washington D.C.
