Wouldn’t it be a lot more fun (would certainly make for better reading) if we could nominate the WORST agencies or firms to work at?

Would be great to hear some of the horror stories about why folks feel the way they do. As long as they could do it anonymously. I cannot imagine how the authors could be protected, so maybe it won’t work, unless they were talking about prior firms.

I’ll start – I used to work at a small consulting firm where one of my assistants was dating my boss. Sure made discipline hard to maintain, and made reviews immaterial!

How about the worst companies to work for? That should spice things up a bit.

My wife has been a CSR for over 30 years (I’ve been married to her for 11) and I’ve never heard her say much positive about any of the agencies that she has worked for! This is especially true when her agency is bought out be another firm or, God forbid, a bank. I’ve seen all of her accounts moved to the ‘head office’ which effectively eliminated her position; I’ve seen empoyee benefits all but evaporate; etc., etc. She is now at an agency since December (after being laid off in August) where she gets no personal days off and must wait a full year before she can take her one (1) week vacation. Of course, her boss has never worked anywhere else (his grandfather started the agency) so he doesn’t know what real life is all about. Her pay is now about 50% of what she earned 10 years ago!! Really Sucks:(

I was going to nominate my agency until I started completing the questions. As I went along – salary, increases, reviews, etc. I felt worse and worse and…I had to stop before going home sick!

Dear E13 – if your job makes you sick – or even thinking about your job makes you sick while you are attempting to perform your job – can you claim Workers Comp? Or Disability? Mental Anguish?

Not me! I love the work! Love the people! Things could be worse…
