    THE TRUTH ABOUT LAWNS

    GOD:
Frank, you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is
going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions,
violets, thistle and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-
maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil,
withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the
long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honeybees and flocks of
songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colours by now. But,
all I see are these green rectangles.

    St. FRANCIS;
It’s the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They
started calling your flowers ‘weeds’ and went to great lengths to
kill them and replace them with grass.

    GOD:
Grass? But, it’s so boring. It’s not colourful. It doesn’t attract
butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms. It’s
sensitive to temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want all
    that grass growing there?

    ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it
green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any
other plant that crops up in the lawn.

    GOD:
The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really
fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.

    ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it –
    sometimes twice a week.

    GOD:
They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?

    ST. FRANCIS:
Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.

    GOD:
They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?

    ST. FRANCIS:
No, Sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.

    GOD:
Now, let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow.
And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?

    ST. FRANCIS:
    Yes, Sir.

    GOD:
These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back
on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and
saves them a lot of work.

    ST. FRANCIS:
You aren’t going to believe this, Lord. When the grass stops growing
so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it so they
can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.

    GOD:
What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a
sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow
leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In
the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to
keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. It’s a
    natural cycle of life.

    ST, FRANCIS:
You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle.
As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay
    to have them hauled away.

    GOD:
No. What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the
winter to keep the soil moist and loose?

    ST. FRANCIS:
After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which
they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of
    the leaves.

    GOD:
And where do they get this mulch?

    ST FRANCIS:
They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.

    GOD:
Enough! I don’t want to think about this anymore. St. Catherine,
you’re in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us
    tonight?

    ST. CATHERINE:
‘Dumb and Dumber’, Lord. It’s a story about….

    GOD:
Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St Francis.

I want tort reform as much as the next person, it’s worked WONDERFULLY here in Texas — HOWEVER, if the federal government gets involved in tort reform, it’s just one more opportunity for them to infringe on States’ Rights — and we may not like their version of tort reform. Tort Reform has to be done at the state levels.

Got to see the outline the government sent out to America’s school children. Obama had to clean it up a lot once educators started letting the cat out of the bag. Wonder how much tonight’s speech got refined. If you know an educator who has not been brainwashed yet get them to show you the original outline. Then you can see for yourself what all the hoopla was about.

If the president keeps using that 46MM census number without also acknowleging that nearly 75% of are either:
    1) Illegal Alients,
    2) Households > $75K that choose NOT to carry health insurance
    3) Young, currently healthy “invincable” individuals that choose NOT to carry health insurance
    or
    4) Individuals that were without health insurnce for < 4 months that year...., how you can believe ANYTHING ELSE he says. The REAL number of chronically uninsurable is closer to 10MM (admittedly disgraceful in a country as propsperous as ours). Why not just let's focus on them rather than destroy a system that 85% of Americans ARE satisfied with. It is SO disingenous of Obamacare supporters to distort a fact as basic as this, THEN accuse all of their critics as "Anti-Health Care Reform" and describe all of the criticism as scare-tactics. Why can't we get the politics out of this issue and let common sense prevail?

Nothing but a Federal-Power-Grab. If you control Health Care you control, like Social Security, more Federal money to dip into. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus “Health” bill is nothing but a huge tax increase (via a massive revamping of the tax codes). Gone is the campaign promise of taxation only to those making over $250,000. I implore you to review all the massive tax changes built into this healthscare bill. WARNING: YOU MIGHT EXPERIENCE NUSEA & VOMITING.

To date, Obama has made close to 162 speaches on his Health Care plan, and his tonight’s speach is suppose to FINALLY reveal what this is suppose to be about?

The upcoming speach is nothing but a liberal political ploy to win over emotions and your tax dollars.

I am having a hard time understanding what the American public wants. Crazy, we are. My mother was in the hospital not to long ago and her Tylenol was $17 per pill. I could have purchased many bottles for that. A girl in collage had a baby that Medicare paid for… $68,000 Two retired friends that pay over $800 per month for health care. My family, in the military (on a public military option) pays less then $60 per month for full health care. Who in the hell do we think is paying the price for current health care. If we don’t reform these things will continue. What are we thinking? Right, left it doesn’t matter – it has got to be paid for. I guess as long as we pay for it the way we want to it works. Get real America – it is time to reform!!!!

I just want to say before you post silly statements you should investigate first. The President of the United States has to have a birth certificate and ours does, he communicates with experts, please learn how a bill becomes a law – it seems that you have been misinformed – What can you do better??? Did you watch a parent pass because they had no insurance, have you watched someone loose insurance because they were kicked off of their plan? Have you had to worry about putting fuel in your auto instead of paying for your medical insurance?

Oh by the way, If you go back and review – The President Of the United States of America – a black man with more knowledge then most America have – did place his hand on his heart, it just so happens that a “smart” (LOL) person took a picture and said he didn’t and a very silly American public believed that crap.

Please – investigate before you make stupid statement – Fox News is not always right!!!!

Oh and by the way, perhaps having a job in DC helping to shape our bills and laws may have given him some experience to do this job as President Of the United State. Do you have that qualification? I thought Not…

Really stop misinforming people and put out real information…

I used to eatch FOX NEWS network only because I felt the news on the other networks was so biased towards the far left, socialist, marxist, and even communist agenda. Then the other day a left wing whacko insisted I should watch MSNBC instead of FOX NEWS since MSNBC presented both sides of the issues and was known for being unbiased. Here is an example of their unbiased reporting for you to digest. I bet you watch MSNBC don’t you? Take the time to go to this link. You may have to cut and paste it in your browser window. While Dionne sounds like a of bit of a Kool-aid drinker to assume that President Obama’s very limited experience qualifies him to be the leader of the free world but that’s no excuse for the “Birthers” on the other side who are screaming for his impeachment. Somewhere in the middle are those of us who would love to give him a chance to fulfill some of his campaign promises without paritan-based obstruction.

With that said, to the contributor who trusts our goverment to do the right thing more than the free market, I thought we settled a lot of that in 1776 when we overthrew a tyranical gov’t in favor a free-market system and that it was confirmed in WW II and the fall of the Berlin Wall so “no” I don’t trust the goverment to police itself because it hasn’t done a very good job so far.

re. MSNBC – I watch it everday (and my alarm clock’s set to play NPR every morning) just so I can hear both sides. Unfortuntely, I have to count on getting the “other” side from other sources because, especially in the case of Maddow and Overmann on MSNBC , the NEVER present any info that doesn’t support their own ultra-progressive agendas. The even talk over film clips of conservatives rather than letting their viewers hear them themselves. That allows them to recite sound bites in their own sarcastic way. Anyone who pays attention to both sides would have to reconginze the MSNBC for what it is, dispicable and decietful. But I’ll continue to monitor it.

Lastly, we absolutely need Health Care reform so anyone who says “conservatives” are “anti” Health Care reform is being dishonest. There have been numerous free-market solutions to the problems of access, portability, affordability and pre-existing conditions that have been totally rejected by the “open minded” legislators who won’t support anything but a public option (which is a just a Trojan horse for a single payor system).

Their unwillingness to consider anything short of this absolutely prooves that their goal is not Health Care Reform, but instead increased government control at any cost.

Let’s take the politics out of this issue and replace it with common sense.

Ok, first I have to say it is President Obama – learn some respect, if not for anything simply respect the office. When Ex-President Bush sent us to war and claimed weapons of mass destruction, I am sure you believed that as well… Today marks the 8th year and wow, still no weapons – did you drink the Kool-Aid?

Second, I want to ask what type of insurance you have? Is it the kind that you can pick any doctor that you want or is it like the rest of us that live and love the USA – that simply have HMO – and the insurance companies choose what doctors you can choose from to go to? Not the crazy left or right wing but the insurance companies that are making billions each and every year off of people that don’t have an open mind and can be easily lead like you.

Third… I belong to military family that stands and protect our freedoms so even the most outstanding ignoramus can have their opinion and state how they feel. So if you don’t have a way to solve the problem why say anything at all?

So how about you leave the country – And finding somewhere else to have that amazing opinion – or even come down with an illness while you don’t have insurance and try to get it. Wow that would be most of the collage students in the US… No insurance what do they do – choose a doctor – oh yes you all with those “NO” ideas can pay for it. You will pay for my insurance for the rest of my life, you might as well pay for theirs as well.

Tom- Have you ever looked at a hospital bill? Have you seen the layers of fees? You all still don’t get it… The solution is change… Reform, Reform, Reform – move away from disease management system and into a preventative system – will it cost? Sure – but the money that we are spending on the $17 Tylenol could be put somewhere else. Your money that is paying for my premium could assist to insure someone that is not insured now – that may go to the hospital and we end up paying for an emergency room visit verses that person having insurance and going to a dr office to get treatment before the cough turns into pneumonia.

Insure someone that would be able to get a mammogram to catch the small lump instead of paying for that same person through their death.

Get a doctor that does not have to spend days on end up doing surgery and working their practice – where they can have some rest so that they don’t make so many mistakes – where the malpractice insurance is not so costly and they don’t need it like they do. Put reform in place where people can not sue the way they do.

Get real people…. A change has got to come. It is time…

Blue Pill or Red Pill, Which one do you choose?

You are exactly correct. The sad thing is that my sister passed from Aids, she couldn’t get health care insurance due to a pre-existing condition. She was on the government system which took great care of her up to her final breath. Who do you think was the responsible party on that bill?

My nephew(from the sister that passed from Aids)has a horrible disease that has affected his kidney function and he is currently on dialysis 4 times per week. Do you know how much that cost? You should find out. He is also on a government program because he has been disabled since he was 14 years old and had not worked a day in his life. We would like for him to get a kidney transplant so that he may live past the age of 26 if we could only get the proper meds to get his blood pressure down. And once that happens, who do you think will hold the bill for all of this? Who do you think is holding the bill right now? He could not be added onto my mother’s insurance due to the same issue. Single pay system… Switzerland has a great one and it work well with no delays… There are many countries that do have a single pay system and they work well. I am not even saying lets get that system, lets just get a system that will cover a woman that dated a man for 19 months, had sex with him on their wedding night and died 1.5 years later.

Don’t give me all the BS, Give some suggestions on how to fix the issue and stop hitting the presidents office – otherwise consider the other options and stop speaking….

When you gripe about the $17. Tylenol I feel your pain. You should sue that hospital for charging so much. One reason they get to charge so mush is to have qualified doctors and staffers to meet, discuss, issue orders, have a trained proffessional administer your tylenol and finally they had better have assets set aside to pay for planned lawsuit costs.

Anyone born into privilege has done so because someone worked hard on their behalf before them, for them, without even knowing them probably.
No one gets anything for free, even if you WANT to believe that.
    Find another excuse.

A lot of couples need to use birth control rather than just killing the unlucky fetuses that happen to form. When President Obama has his way with the people in this country maybe there will be mandatory birth control for a lot of these people that previously only thought getting that unwanted baby hoovered was their only option. Let’s support President Obama and lets support government healthcare and mandatory sterilization for the man and woman who keep popping out unwanted children because they are to damn stupid and/or lazy to get some birth control.
