    while GOP (Grandads old oarty) seeks to divide our country. I’m so glad that the Republicans keep losing support maybe one day they will all be gone and we wont have to deal with obstructionists like Cheney and Rumsfield and Wilson.

    Insightful commentary, you really added a lot to the debate. Was that comment even remotely related to this article?

    Obama gives “hope” for malpractice reform? Yea and the Easter Bunny is for real. All Obama did was give lip service to the issue. He is so beholden to special interests including the trial attorneys that this is wishful thinking.
    The only malpractice or tort reform that will occur is sovereign immunity to physicians who become government employees as a result of government takeover of healthcare. Those doctors who do not fall prey to the Obama ruse and “opt” not to succumb to the messiah’s healthcare plan, will be open targets for trial lawyers to sue. It will either force docs to cave and become a government employee or retire. Obama and his minions have steadily lied about this so-called “healthcare reform” why should he start telling any type of truth.

    Those slimey ambulance chasers have GOT to be kidding right? If that’s the best agrument they have, they’re obviously not too worried about having to win this argument…

    and by the way, Rosie, I’m sure your increasinging negative comments will be welcomed in “A League of Your Own” but they’re sure not contributing to a positive solution in this forum.

    Joe was right — BHO lied. And he’s not going to tell the truth on this either.

    TAR — you’re spot on! In the end, after 1-2 months of saying we need Tort Reform, he’ll come out and say either “Man I tried my best but this is too hard!” or “I think we can accomplish that in another bill!”. He will pull the wool over the eyes of the likes of Chris Matthews and the Rosie’s on the left and just keep taking America down his socialist path.

    … how about this from Friday at yahoo news:

    “…This weekend will be critical as aides and lawmakers themselves hammer out language not just on illegal immigration, but also a handful of other thorny issues including abortion, medical malpractice and how much states must pay for an expansion of Medicaid…

    …Democrats in two House committees defeated amendments that would have required verification of legal status. Many Democrats contend that such measures create barriers to legal residents getting the health coverage they need.

    Verification provisions added to Medicaid several years ago require people to provide documentation of citizenship and identity, said Jennifer Tolbert, a policy analyst at the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

    She said states found that the new requirements mainly caused delays or denials for people who were entitled to be part of the program.

    There are some 7 million illegal immigrants in this country who lack health insurance, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

    Unlike in the House bill or legislation passed by the Senate’s health committee, the Finance Committee is aiming to include verification requirements. Anyone who tries to get subsidized coverage through the new health insurance exchange would have to provide valid Social Security numbers. Aides are working through the weekend to complete how that requirement would be implemented.

    Another unsettled issue involves coverage for legal immigrants. Gang of Six member Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wants a five-year waiting period before legal immigrants can get subsidized coverage, but Conrad said Friday that’s not yet been resolved.”

    So it is still NOT settled, correct? If the president were telling the truth he would have said the matter has yet to be resolved. A definition for you from American Heritage LIE: “A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood”
    So it is one of two.
    1) He is lying.
    2) He is ignorant.

    How about the “Joint Session” the other night….the one intended to repump Obama’s ego. Here he said “healthcare reform will be paid for by eliminating medicare fraud and waste”. If you bought that one, you’re qualified to be president too. Right, we just didn’t eliminate medicare fraud and waste before, because we had money to blow!!!!!!!!!!!!

    And, like the non-enforcment of existing Immigration Law, why does it take a massive overhaul of the current health care systems for waste and fraud in Medicare/Medicaid/SHIP/VA to be eliminated and prosectued.

    With
    1) fewer “undocumented” immigrants to treat,
    2) $80,000,000,000 less waste in goverment systems ALREADY in place, and
    3) meantingful Tort Reform to decrease malpractice and products liabilty insurance and reduced defensive medicine,

    there’d be enough savings in the existing health care system to pay for coverage for those truly unisured:
    * With Pre-existing Conditions
    * With Exhausted Lifetime Maximums
    * Between Jobs/Group Plans
    or
    * Between the cracks (as respects current Medicaide eligibilty)

    So anyone who says a Public Option is the ONLY answer and draws THAT line in the sand, doesn’t really care about health care, they only care about increasing the size of the federal government…

    What a pant-load of trial lawyer propaganda….

    I handle Workers Compensation claims every day and see, time and time again, the incurred losses associated with a claim increase exponentially when litigated, not because the injured worker get’s a nickel more, just because of the fees paid to both plaintiff’s and defense counsel + the cost of dueling doctors and redundant diagnostic testing.

    Nice try, JD. Spoken like a true shark….Sorry, those of us in the real world know that you have the majority of both houses in your back pocket and you’ll say anything to deflect attention away from your shameless shenanigans. We’re not buyin’

    Rosie, it’s interesting that while you spew the Democratic mantra – Republicans are dividing or not supporting, blah blah blah – you refer to King Hussein as Barry? Hmmm. Barry Soetoro one of Obama’s alter ego’s. It’s generally those evil right wingers that will use “Barry” when describing King Hussein.
    It was Barry who fell in love with the Saul Alinsky economic theory and who was taught by Frank Marshall Davis that communism is good and capitalism is “evil”. Barry loves to spew the Al-Takiya to America, since no one really holds him accountable for his words or deeds, like ramming government healthcare down America’s throat. Big government is the communist way and he’s done a good job in 8 short months nationalizing the private sector and growing government.
    Bottom line is this country cannot afford the Obama healthcare scheme. There is no reason for the rapid expansion of government in a time of economic crisis. If you want real healthcare reform, then tort reform must be part of the solution as should pharmacutical, durable medical, physician, hospital, medicare and insurance company participation in reform. But there is such a zeal by the same den of thieves in Congress who caused the financial meltdown, who will destroy our country’s medical delivery and healthcare system!
    BTW it’s not racism to disagree with a man who is systematically dismantling Capitalism to create a larger government in order to confiscate more and more taxes from Americans.

    It’s getting old already when you disagree with this president, his commrads on the left have found a new mantra – “Racist”. From Garagolo to Carter, it’s convenient to spew that nonsense in order to squelch the real debate. Well Americans aren’t falling for that anymore. The healthcare issue hit a nerve and they are scrambling So Moveon.org, ACorn and all the other left wing radical organizations can take a hike. Obama’s a radical, his ideology and politics are radical, his circle with the flag is a radical symbol and his associates are Anti-American, Anti-Capitalists radicals. Americans are finally waking up to this “Hope and Change” garbage and not liking what they are seeing.
    But hey, these are good forums for those on the left who get their marching orders to spew the talking points.
