This guy should never have been in charge of the NY Fed Bank. Obviously, he LET AIG get in trouble because of his lack of knowledge and oversight.
NOW, he provides MY money for AIG to payoff all it’s obligations 100 cents on the dollar? Everyone and every entity is taking haircuts lately, why not Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and all the other creditors waiting for the U.S. Taxpayer to rescue AIG? Geithner is an idiot and a fraud. He is the perfect puppet for the socialist wacko liberal president all you IDIOTS voted into the White House. How is the “Hope and Change” working for you now? There is NO global warming of ANY kind, spending your way out of debt does not work even for basic MATH, borrowing your way out of bankruptcy does not work either.

Following and adding to Jimmy Carter’s failed policies of the last recession will not work today anymore than it did then.
Liberal idiots. We need to ALL vote for ANYONE but who is serving in 2010 and take the power from this wacko president and make him the one term slob that Jimmy was. Let’s go back to personal responsibiltiy and quit the socialist nanny state.

Did not work in any other country, will not work here. Health insurance from the Federal Govt.??? Are you f iing kidding me? They do everything else SO well!!!???

IDIOTS who voted for Barry should all be made to pay for his spending.

Get conservatives in the Congress and REPEAL every bill this idiot shoved down the taxpayers thoats.

Geithner did not advise not to disclose like Obama does not continue to pay off the unions with their exemption of taxes on cadillac insurance plans, like Reid does not cut deals in the backroom and Pelosi is a woman!!!

Today’s requirement to be in power is to be a crook where integrity is skin deep, your own skin!!!!

America is amazing as there’s always hope and possibility of honest change just around the corner. If Brown wins Ma., we will see the beginning of the end of this tyranny.
Speaking of honest change. That’s what our president does not have. He’s has brought change. Change that cripples capitalism and puts us in the same class as Jews of the 1930’s.

Now anyone who objected to where the country was headed in the Bush years (“Hussein caused 9/11, “let’s turn a budget surplus into an uncontrollable budget deficit” etc.) is guilty of the sins of Geithner? How do you find a way to put global warming into your argument? Your arguments are as idiodic as me saying that you must agree with Pat Robertson’s latest “deal with the devil” comment regarding what caused the Haitian earthquake. I voted for Obama and I dislike Geitner’s actions as much as you. Geitner’s in over his head. It’s obvious. Leave it at that.

Or are you just some jerk shooting off his mouth and trivializing the suffering of millions of people in the 30’s and 40’s.

You have MSNBC which does the exact opposite going to the left and then there is CNN which looks like there in the middle. But, ever since Michale Jackson died, and they became the Michale Jackson Tribute Network, they haven’t been the same.

The President of Fox news is Roger Ailes. He is not a news man and never was. He is a very smart and successful polical consultant. You may remember he ran the first George Bush’s Presidential campaign. He is not a news man and cares not for balanced coverage; only reactionary coverage and staffing the anchor desk with incredibly hot female news anchors and empty headed suits. Fox news producers have been behind local organization of those “tea party” rallies. Ailes is probably a good guy. But, a news man he aint.

Being the media mogul for Nixon, Reagan and Bush Sr. gave him his accolades he needed for Rupert Murdoch to put him in charge of launching the network in 96. The reality is that FoxNews appeals to conservatives, independents and moderate democrats. Their viewers far outnumber almost all other media with the exception of CNN. Yes, Fox leans to the right as CNN leans to the left — and the two balance each other. MS/NBC is so far up our president’s butt, it’s smelly. ABC and CBS are at times chasing the left viewers and at times chasing the right, with no clear direction.

If the viewers of FoxNews were all far right, than McCain would have won the election.

If you ask other media what they think of FoxNews, they believe their reporters are of the highest integrity. They all immediately came to Fox’s support when the Obama administration tried to block them from accessing information. (Ew — bad Nixon memories…)

If your criticism is that they are a bunch of empty headed anchors, than all you are capable of doing is repeating what you hear, and not developing your own opinion with actual examples of empty-headed behaviors.

No one should accept one source of information for news – you need to watch and read different opinions to be fully informed and take a stand.

You are allowed to post your nonsense just like I can post mine, ;but it would help if you actually had an opinion on the subject. Mine is that this adminstration may be the most openly dishonest ever. There have always been backroom deals, but this group thinks it can do anything it wants and doesn’t even try to hide it’s criminal behavior. If they are going to shaft us over and over, a least lie believably. Just my opinion. You don’t like it, go elsewhere. I won’t be leaving. Take your anger meds and try again to focus on the actual topic.

And in that prime time drive, it contains all the commentators – Beck, O’rielly, Hannity and Gretta. Sheppard Smith and Gretta seem to be the only level headed people in that drive. The rest are way to the right.

I’m sure they have very good reporters and anchors. But anchoring the news isn’t the same as inserting your opinions or objections.

Not only did the other media defend Fox reporters when Obama tried to block them for interviews, but the act that Obama did was completely out of line.

Again, you have won nothing, proved nothing and I have to believe, impressed nobody here. You are a serious minority on this site, Allen admirers. Has anyone considered that terrorists could be in back of a plot to destroy us economically since they can’t do it militarily?
It couldn’t have taken much convincing to get the derivitives started. A promise of overnight riches might have done the trick. Betting on substandard mortgages is never a good bet. Nothing lasts forever especially not trends in housing values. At best it was an attractive temporary get rich scheme that stuck AIG with the bill. Didn’t the financial geniuses know better? Whose idea was that in the first place and who was responsible for carrying it out to extremes? The ultimate cost to us is far greater than the $180 billion dollar AIG bailout. The dominos keep falling. The end effect on our country certainly is not good. In spite of what some of the pundits said, there never should have been bailouts. The capitalist system is based on letting orginazations rise and fall on their own. If we had acted more intelligently and perhaps more honestly, the world economy would not have collapsed and we would be in much better shape as a counry.

Thanks for giving me to lowdown on where all the news outlets lean. I have been a viewer of TV news for over 40 years. It is sad to see where it has gone. You cannot trust a news organization for the straight scoop anymore. It’s all about ratings. CBS, NBC, FOX, etc are all owned by large corporation that must make a profit. In the old days, CBS, NBC, and ABC considered their news departments “loss leaders” but kept the integrety intact. Nobody tells me that FOX anchors empty headed. I have seen for myself. I am a moderate democrate and cannot stomach them for long. Not empty headed?? Just watch a half hour of “FOX and Friends”. It makes me want to throw up my breakfast. Yuck!

Try not to make too much sense of the senseless.

It just boils down to greed and ever-deteriorating morality, combined with a seriously dumbed-down educational system.

This eventually happens to all societies, even American. We are not immune to human frailty, and the fact that we now encourage and celebrate the deviations has only served to speed the process of the deterioration.

@ Dude (and anyone else who thinks Clinton created a surplus),

You might want to read the facts on this. Clinton’s deficit to surplus creation was using deficit spending by borrowing funds from Social Security and paying down the national debt – they moved the money on the US citizens just like Geithner moved the money to the private banks…going into 1999 there was a social security surplus that Clinton used and manipulated to his will that created a “budget year” surplus for the economy…

During clinton’s presidency the operating budget of the government was running a $100-200 billion deficit annually reaching a low of an $18 billon deficit in 1999, and then spiking to $130 billion when leaving in 2000. This data readily available from the treasury department. I want someone somewhere to show me the year where the government spending was in the black it hasn’t happened since the 60s.

The Clinton years were great at deficit spending: the government was spending money to pay down the national debt (which is the money owed to states, corporations, US Taxpayers, and foreign governments). Now where did this money come from? Well during the dot com era Social Security ran a Surplus, as required with any surplus by an intergovernment organization, they organization must purchase Government Securities. These securities provide extra cash to Clinton that he used to pay the national debt. I’m so happy that the surplus in Social Security went to spending on national debt and not the securing of American’s futures. Way to go Clinton!

So as I said: Clinton stole from Social Secuirty to pay down the national debt…deficit spending…borrowing money to pay off other obligations. Sounds to me like “Robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
