I’m sure one or both of them intentionally set up a catastrophic event like this to make the other one look bad.

I know nothing about oil drilling on land or in water but even as an ‘ignoramus’ I would ask myself, If I drill a hole and the oil under pressure starts to come out of the hole, how can I stop the flow. If the answer is “I don’t know’ then my answer is: Don’t drill the hole in the first place.

Drilling holes into the earth’s surface at 30,000 feet deep in the ocean would make me want to have a solid answer before I start given the ecological consequences of the oil flowing/leaking from the drill hole. It strikes me as inherently much more difficult than if you drill on land.

‘Dril Baby Drill’ may make for good political chatter but it can result in ecological disater/ruin.

There’s no good solution. The dependence on natural fuels such as oil are well documented, and while we may lament them, until there are drastic changes made, this will probably not be the last catastrophic event brought about by our greed.

It’s really amazing when you realize they have stated there isn’t that much oil where they are drilling yet they will potentially ruin the fishing and tourism industry to get that oil. Tourism and fishing are billion dollar industries.
