Torus Launches Environmental Platform

July 12, 2010

Following the establishment of Management Liability, Healthcare and Renewable Energy practices earlier this year, Torus appointed sector specialist Adrianne Vigueras as vice president to develop tailored environmental products for small and midsized businesses in the US.

Based in Torus’ Jersey City office, Vigueras will also develop non-environmental programs for contractors, manufacturers and premises exposures. She will also work closely with Torus’ Renewable Energy and Healthcare teams to enable seamless coverage by adding environmental components to their products.

The launch of the new platform comes as continually changing EPA regulations, such as the lead-safe certification rule that came into effect on April 22 this year, are increasing awareness amongst business owners of the need for environmental insurance to protect their businesses.

“Insureds have woken up to the fact that environmental insurance should be part of their general liability portfolio,” said Linc Trimble, Head of US Excess Casualty and to whom Vigueras will report.

Ms. Vigueras has over 25 years of insurance experience, 20 of which were centred on environmental insurance designing straightforward programs for real estate transfers to complex Fortune 500 placements. Prior to Torus she managed her own consulting company, CEC Consultants, which provided environmental expertise to insurance brokers. She attended Hunter College and studied environmental law at the Practicing Law Institute, both in New York.
