Agree-knee jerk reaction to a still soft market. Give it a few years and they will want those questions back so they can underwrite their business again!

Translation: Allied is no longer following the ACORD format. ACORD is falling behind by not recognizing the technological advancements that alows question and print selection based on the specific risk. They continue with a broadbrush approach that requires the paging through and printing (for signature purposes)of multiple unnecessary questions.

Having seen some of the accounts they bind and pricing they use, I’d have to say it’s a soft market play and agree with companyman.

They can get so much information now from the internet, I think the majority of our companies use websites to underwrite their risks. Doesn’t mean they won’t come back and ask a ton of questions before giving a quote. Our underwriters have always been very thorough and some have even over- underwritten the smallest of risks – both in size and exposure.

If you have every seen their Business Owners application, you would understand why they are doing this. There was a lot of unnecessary questions on it and as an agent you feel stupid asking some of them. Good move by Allied in my opinion. No more asking a retail store if they operate any aircraft.

Absolutely correct. The new biz questions are more specialized to the class of business. If anything the underwriting has increased in scrutiny. TCR has been steadily improving and their safety and loss control team are second to none. I love working with them.

A+ XV so stick that in yer pipe and smoke it baby !!!!!!

Please-give me a break. Any agent will sell cheap rates, and take a company right down the toilet for a sale. The carrier has to have some common sense to hold them at bay.

The reason they advertise this is to say to agents, “load us up”.

A retail agent is “loyal” to a carrier up to the time the carrier loses it’s rating and they can’t sell that sucker’s product anymore. Don’t think so? ask Dallas National.

Think an A+15 rating can’t falter?-check again in the past graveyards of carriers.

What the heck is this guy on-drugs? Some Texas red-neck who can’t is basically saying sell the hell out of this cheap paper/programs to help your 401 k rebound?

What are you going to tell your insureds when they go belly-up big boy? Or, when they take such a hard turn the other way once the losses catch up with them and you have to move an entire book of business because you dealt with a company who acts like a hooker??

With this more aggresive approach to getting business on the book at any costs, Allied Insurance has stopped underwriting.

Accounts that are on are already on the company’s books are underpriced with some having extreme adverse loss activity.

It is a matter of time before Allied raises their rates dramatically on this business and/or walks away from it leaving their agents in a difficult position.

Allied hasn’t stop underwriting. If you ever saw Allied’s application, this move makes sense. It make it easy for the agent to submit new business, but hasn’t eliminated underwriting. Allied turns down a lot of risks that other companies are willing to write.

Allied is not the only carrier that has an underpriced book of business or that has adverse loss history. I think it is a matter of time before all carriers have to raise their rates.

hey, which ALLIED are you talking about? The Allied that operates in Illinois was the cheapest thing on the street a few years ago. Underwriting? HA!! They had a bunch of snot-nosed kids running around and writing anything they could for 40 cents on the dollar. Then they got burned, and started taking 25 to 40% rate hikes. Most of our business has moved from them. not much left.

And my reps have pretty much disappeared. hiding under their desk somewhere, I guess.

Just another step Allied is providing the On Your Side for their partners. I don’t know about you but I am thrilled to have an Allied contract for the past 25 years. This company continues to prove and make the right moves in the insurance industry.

Sounds like some of you don’t know how to work in insurance or haven’t been able to understand what it takes to put together a profitable book in your office.

ALLIED IS THE BEST CARRIER right now in this market.

I think this agent is gunning for another point commission and brownine points!

Give me a break! This company is soooooo cheap and has no underwriting standards.

Most agents will run companies like them into the ground-if the carrier allows it.

This article clearly shows that Allied is making the right moves for their customers which is to help make writing business easier. With the market the way it has been the past few years, Allied has seem to be the one company that continues to hold their own and not give in like the other carriers (as far as cheap pricing just to get the business). Allied has always and will continue to be a company known for their great leadership, claims, uw, and service.
