Chartis Introduces Industry-Specific Environmental Liability Products

Chartis has introduced NextGen Protection, a suite of environmental insurance solutions developed by its Environmental Division. NextGen Protection is designed specifically for several industries that face potential exposure to environmental liability from facilities they own or operate and products and services they produce.

The first two products in the NextGen Protection suite are:

PLL Wellness Protect for Healthcare Facilities

PLL Wellness Protect has been developed to address the environmental exposures associated with the healthcare industry, including the storage, handling, transportation and disposal of medical waste; the use of fuel storage tanks for emergency generators; third-party exposure to indoor air contaminants such as mold or legionella pneumophila; and the discovery of a historical pollution release during an expansion or construction project.

PLL Campus Protect for Higher Education Institutions

PLL Campus Protect has been created to focus on the specific pollution exposures associated with higher education institutions. Colleges and universities may confront an array of pollution exposures based upon their enrollment and course offerings. For example, as the number of residential students increases at a college or university, so does the likelihood of third-party exposure to indoor air contaminants in dormitories. Schools offering science or medical programs can also face potential environmental exposures due to the storage, handling, transportation and disposal of hazardous chemicals or medical waste. In addition, private donations of land may lead to the discovery of unknown pollution conditions during the development of the property.

Coverage provided by NextGen Protection’s PLL Wellness Protectand PLL Campus Protectenhances the Chartis insurers’ market-leading Commercial Pollution Legal Liability (Commercial PLL) insurance product. Commercial PLL provides protection to insureds for third-party claims resulting from bodily injury, property damage or clean-up costs that arise from pollution conditions for which the insured has legal liability.
