Here we can see the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Republicans would remove the $1 billion from the budget and restrict the rights of the victims to sue. Then they would talk about how great they are because they reduced the deficit and lowered health costs.
Of course, in the meantime, during the next 3 years, 60,000 more needless deaths would have occurred and 1.8 million more people would have been injured needlesly.
But hey, lowering the deficit and reducing health costs is much more important, right?

JS, Sorry dude but that statement is total horse sh*t. Stop it with the “WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE” if we cut spending crap. Here is a wonderful speach by your commander and thief, Barack Husien Obama. IL Senator and eternal campaigner.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.

Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.

Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities.

      Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
      March 16, 2006

TOTAL DEBT NOW IS 14 TRILLION! TOTAL LACK OF LEADERSHIP, WE ALL CAN AGREE!

Wrong JS…this is more of a bipartisan effort to improve an out of date system that needs repair.

What you speak of is simple liberal democrat spin tactic designed to instigate fear amongst an ignorant mass, and simulaneously sell the Obamacare package. Times are changing & this kind of thinking is progressing out of the Washington establishment as proven by the erosion of control. More erosion is forthcoming.

Wow – “a spin tactic designed to instigate fear amongst an ignorant mass”. And here I thought that’s what the Republicans did for two years claiming that the health care bill was the end of all freedoms as we know them.

30 million uninsured, almost all of whom have little if any access to quality health care (When was the last time you went to the emergency room to get care for cancer, diabetes, MS, etc.) and the Republicans think the answer is to privatize and underfund medicare which can only result in even more people being uninsured.

But look at the bright side: social security issues will see relief when these people die much earlier and lines at good doctors will be shorter so you won’t have to wait.
