At least the world survived 5-21-11 when it was all supposed to end. Now, the guy says sorry he made a mistake on the timing and it will now be 10-21-11. I believe him 100%, don’t you? I wonder what all those fools that quit their jobs, sold their possessions, closed their bank accounts, stocked up on food and water will do now. I guess they can start drawing their 99 weeks of unemployment and that should take them through comfortably until October.

You left out wildfires that have claimed 2 1/2 million acres in Texas along with 250 homes.

And Obama will not declare Texas a disaster area due to the fires because Perry and him do not get along. If California has a fire, FEMA is out there in a heart beat doling out aid. Gee, I wonder why the double standard.

These things seem to happen in cycles. If it is not tornados and floods it hurricanes and earthquakes. This is why we have insurance. Maybe the country needs to better prepare for these “rainy day” tragedies. I think that is what FEMA is for. The sad part is all of the lives that are lost or affected by this. There are some things nothing can fix and no one can prepare for.

Al Gore would have you believe that it is all man made and greenhouse gases emitted from factories and vehicles are to blame and we need to go “green” and let him collect millions from carbon exchanges and higher taxes. Real people say we have been having tornados and hurricanes for eons and it ebbs and flows based on wind patterns and ocean currents.

What about all the Iowa flooding? How come you will never hear about that again? Where are the gov’t. bailout vouchers or the gov’t. debit cards for that catastrophe? Why isn;t the federal gov’t. moving displaced Iowa people into free hotels in Chicago and Minneapolis? Where is Sean Penn, Bono and the Dixie Chicks on this one? This is an example of Gov’t. control of the media, and soon to be of the internet, cell phones and radio and all communication as well as the present network news on t.v. whomever controls the media controls the country!!!

The problem the mainstream media has is that fewer and fewer people are watching them. Their ratings are abysmal and all they do is promote the agenda instead of real reporting and asking tough questions of our leaders. More and more are watching Fox and listening to talk radio and getting info from the internet. The Progressive Socialists are quaking in their boots and will seek to silence those that oppose them. If that happens, I think the country could be in for chaos because 300 million angry citizens will be on their back and kick them out.

Remember when Citibank owned Travelers and Traveler’s losses brought down the bank’s stock value? Guess Warren is discovering insurance is about more than cute lizards.

Actually, we represent Travelers and they were thankful to be out from under Citibank since Citibank had to be bailed out. Travelers has done remarkably well on their own. They are going to take a hit on these storms along with the others who have a lot of exposure. I look for all the carriers to take rate on their property offerings.

Congress recently renewed the NFIP for 5 years. Great, but did they address the issue of (re)building in known flood plains?
Nope, and US taxpayers will continue to subsidize those people who stubbornly return to live in flood plains. Why? They are voters who are being bought by the legislators. Also, why has there been no drive-by liberal media or Hollyweird criticism of Barry Obammunist for not visiting the tornado-damaged areas in the Central Plains, like what happened when Bush didn’t immediately respond to Katrina?

Noah, We have elitist politicians in Washington DC who are far removed from the folks and could care less about doing the right thing. All they know how to do well is spend money the country doesn’t have for all their social programs that drive up the debt and fail miserably. NFIP should have been reformed years ago, but that might actually have taken some effort. By the way, you will never see the liberal media criticize Barry for being detached and uncaring. It is more important to see him toast the queen. If he were a real President, he would have cut short his trip and returned to visit the ravaged areas and make sure FEMA was doing their job getting aid to the victims.
