Arch Appoints Whiddon to Lead Railroad Casualty Business

Arch Insurance Group appointed Catherine Whiddon, regional vice president, as head of the company’s railroad casualty business unit. She will lead the underwriting of all commercial railroad liability, force account liability, railroad protective liability, scenic excursion liability, railroad general liability, contingent railcar liability, follow form excess liability and auto liability.

Whiddon joined Arch in December of 2008 as the regional vice president of railroads, responsible for the central and western regions of the business.

Prior to joining Arch, Whiddon spent eight years as zonal transportation manager at AIG’s Lexington Insurance Co. Prior to that, Whiddon worked at Marsh USA Inc. for 11 years, holding positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president of surface transportation placements. While at Marsh, she lead the placement efforts of high hazard surface transportation accounts, served as Marsh’s national placement coordinator for railroads and was part of the company’s transportation industry specialty unit, providing professional development and leadership on the nuances and intricacies of the railroad industry.

Whiddon has been a member of the American Shortline Regional Rail Association for over a decade and holds vendor affiliations with the Association of The American Public Transportation Association, the National Railroad Contractors Association and the Association of Private Railcar Owners.
